Vintage memorabilia

Geoff (03cts sport) graciously sent me, from his dad's stash, a 1956 Canada map to match my 1956 Canadian Pontiac! THANK YOU GEOFF!! It is the kind that can fold out to show a long stretch of road (W to E) and I am thinking of putting it on top of the dash when I (some day! really! I promise!) get to drive to a gathering of car nuts like me (and you!) and park my old ride and "show" it (sort of - current plan is to have it be a work-in-process hot rod, sans beautiful paint, so not really show quality). I can't get inside the car right now (since entry is blocked by 650 pounds of old motor on the crane on one side and the hood and zillions of stockpiled parts on the other side), but I poked through the open window and spread it out about halfway:

Cool, eh? (yeah you kind of have to look closely to see the "1956")

Dave

That's the first time it's seen daylight in 50 years! As mentioned, glad it's found a good home Dave.

Adding memorabilia adds to the fun of having these old cars.   On Jay Leno's website, when reviewing one of his 50's station wagons he talks about collecting period correct stuff.   I have a number of period correct maps, gas station stuff (match books, etc of companies that no longer exist) and even a Playboy magazine from when my cars were built.  It's neat to display that stuff with the car.

I like memorabilia also. I've collected some old automotive cans/containers (gas, oil, wheel grease, headlight bulbs).
Putting on a display of them at a car show/meet is very cool!
Sure beats stuffed animals, and those "crying kids" maniquins that some people put in and around their carsno

I'm still looking for a street map from 1965 for Toronto.

Nothing in the Trans Am yet. I have some period mags and an ad Ray was nice enough to send me a while back. I used to collect G.I.Joe from the 80's and had some unopened ones from 82. Those are gone now, but today i drove the Trans Am to work wearing a G.I.Joe t-shirt...does that count?!?!

It's not a shirt from the 80's, just got the vintage logo on it. If i wanted vintage wear closest i have is a Batman shirt from 89.
