OK, finally got an engine number off our car - 834472644 -does that sound like a vaguely familiar number to anyone? It's supposed to be a 283/195 and I think the engine is original to the car. Appreciate any input..

its 83 powerglide 4 64 4 283 92thousanth 466hundreth 66th produced sorry about my bad spelling doing it one handed. in 65-66 the power glide codes go from 80 to 85 the low 80s for lower performance glides 85 for the 300hp

I've been offline here for a while. Yeah Carl, I noticed the '83' vs. '13' thing too. If anybody could comment it would be interesting to find out. At this point the number I have is right off the GM documentation we ordered. It's very difficult to get to the spot on the engine where the no.'s located due to a large bracket that sits directly over it. We're pretty sure the engine is original but not totally.
