If you need touch up paint for your old car you better get it soon.

I'm a big fan of those custom mixed spray bombs for doing touch ups on my old cars. They spray so well and after a wet sand and polishing, you can't tell where you painted. I have some mixed for my Laurentian and went to Carquest in London to have some mixed for my 58 Dodge as I have a couple of lower fender rust blisters to fix. They do custom mixing here in Ingersoll, however the can I had mixed using the factory paint code was lighter than what was on the car (it had been painted years ago and likely has faded slightly due to age). Luckily there is one location in London that can scan an original part and mix to match. I took the fuel filler door from my Dodge with me and they mixed up a perfect match. Now the bad news: Since water based paint is now the law, they can only mix the old style paint until the end of the year. If you want it for your car, you should do it sooner than later as they won't be ordering new stock so you may not be able to get your shade mixed if you wait until the end of the year. They can't make spray bombs with the new water based paint.
The current paint also works great for stone chips. I spray a bit in an empty spray bomb lid and use a fine brush to fill in the chip. It works great.

Question, what about primer. Is it going to be waterbased as well. I'm just starting to get the hang of painting with a "gun" & now this comes along. Will we be able to shoot this stuff at home or will the gov. "screw" us there as well & what equipment will you need for "this stuff".  52 should be home in awhile & I'm going to have to do the primer on it. Not ready to paint it for another year or so!!!! Have all the d/train to do & mechanical,& I know I'll scratch it if painted.

Not sure which places around here will scan and mix a small amount of automotive paint. How does one find that out?

Tip for storing spray bombs, Rondex rep told me this one. when you get the can home turn it upside down and spray the nozzle clear and store it upside down since the nozzles and tubes tend to plug before any paint goes bad.

The current paints will last a long time. The water based has a short shelf life. I was talking to our body shop manager at work and he said it's going to be near impossible to paint with water based at home. He did say however that farmers will still be able to buy the old style paint as they paint their implements at home and that there's no way water based would work on that equipment.

If you open up a can of paint, use a bit and are left with a part can........
grab your propane torch, DON"T light it, crank open the valve wide
and with the lid over the torch head, fill the part can with propane.
As propane is heavier than air, there wont be air to spoil the paint.
Works on auto or house paint or??

As for the lower solvent paint, maybe this will drive the good "old" paint
underground for the hobbyist home use, we'll have to start buying it like
you buy weed??
