Welcome to the site ! thats a sweet car. How many of those were built and is it a 4speed ? If you post your cowl tag, this site will track your car build numbers etc.

Great car. Was it originally sold in the US? I only ask because you mention PHS.

No, sold in Vancouver originally....I just didnt know there were any GTOs built in Canada. So the first place i tried to get paperwork from was PHS.

That seems kinda weird...when I contacted PHS back in 1990. I was told they had no information for me and that my car was built by GM of Canada. And GM of Canada sent me all the original paperwork, buildsheet and option breakdown for my car.

There's two things your car could be.
1) A GTO out of the States delivered into and sold in Canada
2) A Lemans built in Oshawa with the endura front end.
Your cowl tag will tell you where it's made

Can you share with us what the GM Canada Documents say about where it was made? Is it 100% Made in Canada? That usually is pretty prominent on the data plate as well.

I am in agreement with Kim if it was built in Ste. Therese it would be a nose job LeMans with a 455 HO, rarer than any GTO made in 72, for that matter one of the rarest Pontiac muscles cars of this era imo.

Like I said....PHS had no record of my car, I was sure it was us built. GM of Canada were the only ones who could supply paperwork....And they tell me its a GTO...lol...as does the original bill of sale etc.....heres the cowl tag for all you decipherers......sorry it kinda fuzzy....camera didn't want to focus very well....

Just grabbed a quote from Jim Wangers from an old file....were 69 GTOs built in Canada too....thought he might be up on the subject....And what about the 69 GTO Judge in Wangers collection?

Well, believe it or not,  he says with a smile it is actually Canadian-built.I bought it from a guy who lives in Abbotsford, British Columbia. His name is Dave Bishop and he is an excellent Pontiac engineguy.  He explained how from64-68, Pontiacs were marketedcompletely differently in Canada and were built off of a Chevroletwith Pontiac sheet metal on it. The Canadian version of the GTOwas the Beaumont (which was basically a Chevelle) but the bigproblem was they didnt have wide

track, so the metal hung out over the

wheels.  So, it wasnt until 1969when the GTO had become sopopular, and in such huge demand,

that it began being manufactured out

of Oshawa, Ontario. Im sure, to the

thrill of many a Canadian enthusiast.

I think Wangers was drinking that dayconfuseconfuse There are alot of 69 Beaumonts out there and the 1970 GTO was built late 1969
Jim is right that his 69 is Canadian built, because a Canadian restored that car.
