WOODWARD DREAM CRUISE

Who said the Woodward Dream Cruise is only One Day (8/21). I was out tonight and the Classic Cars were Crusing all over Woodward from 8 mile in Detroit to Pontiac. We left the house around 5:30 with our L79 Beaumont and got back around 9:30, it was a blast you could actually Cruise. With nine days left until Saturday the classic car crusing will only get stronger. I'll probably be crusing every night as long as it dos't RAIN.

Joe you are so lucky that you can cruise there everyday because it is car central. I have been there numerous times and sheer number of cars is awesome.
I have talked to so many car guys in southern ontario that havent been to the event and i tell them all ,go. It takes me about 2 hours to get there but its worth it.
The range and quality of vehicles is outstanding and the atmosphere is great.
I cant go on Sat but i will go either on Thurs/Fri for the show.

Their will be all kinds of Venders selling various Woodward memorabilia. Last year more than 1,000,000 people watched over 30,000 classic cars cruise the 16 miles of Woodward from Detroit to Pontiac, that's about 1,900 cars per mile. Doesn't get much better than that. I'll be just north of Square Lake Rd. spending time between the Chevelle and GTO Clubs.

it is a circus, but great cars, if you arnt cruising a vintage car and just want
to park and walk the route, they have parking at places like the state fair grounds and run shuttle buses to various points, wear good shoes for walking
ull be tired by the end! With the drive and long lines in hot weather we took the
new car and enjoyed the ac, and didnt worry about overheating the vintage iron
some place along the route, people are very quick to help those in a trouble
but we didnt want the grief, and we decided that quickly, when we all wanted
to go in a vintage car, just in someone elses! less worry when its not your car

I've gone the last 2 years on the Friday night before. Saturday is just too congested and can be very hot. At least Friday night it's generally a little cooler and not quite as busy. Still a great experience though.

It won't surprise anyone on here, but the Pontiac Michigan end of the cruise is the most fun. Lots of burn outs and cheering crowds.

I also found that there is lots of places along the route (malls, small plazas etc) where I could park, cool off the car and watch the action comfortably from a lawn chair.

Bring along a cooler with some snacks and cold drinks. It can be hard to find a bottle of water along the route.

Regards,

Scott (LandShark ...)

If I hauled that wagon to you, I wouldn't have a car to drive on Woodward.....confuse

That's no fun no.  Looking at cars is ok but cruising is where its at!
