Being the block casting date is Nov. 01, 1964 this would be the 1'st of the HB Suffix listings noted below..
With the engine build date as Nov 17, that'd be of 1964 for a 1965 model year B-Body car..
I believe this 327/300 was RPO # L74.?

1 - HB 1965 327 std trans., hi perf. 300 4 full size

2 - HB 1967 327 A.I.R. 275 4 full size/Camaro

3 - HB 1968 327 H.D. clutch 275 4 full size

4 - HB 1969 350 tur hydro trans. 300 4 A F X

 This is a great site.............

http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-engine-code-stampings.php

If you are researching a car that is supposed to be "matching numbers" then keep in mind that the engine date must precede the car build date, otherwise something is amiss. Some engine machining operations (decking) will obliterate the engine ID.

Engine ID Code Example: V0107CLJ - (V = Plant, 01 = January, 07 = 7th Day, CLJ = Engine Suffix Code)
Another example: T0830CTY - (T = Tonawanda, 08 = August, 30 = 30th day, CTY = 1970 396 Camaro, 375 hp, 11.0:1, TH400)

CodeEngine PlantCodeEngine Plant
FFlint (Motor)SSaginaw Service
HHydramaticTTonawanda
KSt. Catherines, OntarioVFlint (Engine)
(McKinnon Industries Canada)
MGM of Mexico

 "F" being Flint.

My cousin has a 65 250 HP 327
It has the "HC" suffix for 250 HP

Mine has the "HB", so i think Pete is correct with his 300 HP decode.

Nastyz28 site is great, but not always correct.

Thanks to all.
