hi everyone

New guy from Timmins On... I have a 69 Beaumont custom that my father purchased new in 1969 from a dealership here in timmins...  the car has been parked in his garage for about 15 years and has not ran in about 20 years but we got it running today and we are now going to start restoring it and i am just wondering if i am going to have a hard time finding parts... the car is complete and all original but the interior could use some work... and maybe some mecanical... my father was told this was a rare car.. The guy at the dealership when he brought it in for some work told him it was one of 11 with the 350ci 300hp not to sure if this is true has anybody else ever heard of this... trying to decode the info on the plate under the hood but it does not have the code for the engine just the options and tranny guess i have to check the engine.. any idea where to look...

will try to get some pics up soon.....  Thanks Jeff

Welcome Jeff.
Our resident 55 thru 57 expert ( Taylor55 ) also resides in the city with a heart of gold.
I used to live in I. Falls but left 4 yrs ago ( originally from Kap ) so know your area well.
Does your car still have the original dealer emblem on the trunk lid? If so I'd love to have you post a pic of it.
Oh and pics of the car and data plate are greatly encouraged.

Welcome aboard Jeff
I haven't seen a breakdown as to the number of these cars that had the 300 horse engine on any paperwork I have seen from VVS.
The data / cowl tag should have the engine option listed if there was an upgrade from the base engine.
If the VIN starts with 736 it is a V8 car. If there is no engine RPO on the cowl tag it is likely the engine was a 307.
A picture or data from the cowl tag would be a great help.

Parts for your 69 are not impossible to find and because it is a Custom seat covers and door paenls are shared with the Malibu and are readily available.

 Lets see some pics

Well, this is a surprise. I do not remember this car off hand. If it was sold new in Timmins it must be from Bupont Motors which was torn down a few years ago and is now for sale as an empty lot. I remember a couple of Beaumonts in Timmins but only two 2 doors a Red SD and one that was parked at the top of main street that Jack Z bought a couple of years ago.

Give me a call I would like to look at the Beaumont and I can tell you if it is 350-300 just by looking at the engine.   264-8781

Welcome to the sight.

Thanks everyone for the response here is what i have for info so far it is a 350 because it has the 350ci V8 badges on the lower fender in front of the door.... We found a warranty plate with stamped nubers from bupont motors. from when the car was purchased.. but thats all we have for now for paper work not sure if any numbers on this plate would mean anything.... as for the data plate this is what is stamped on it

St 69 73637 OS476024
TR 756 9B 402B
C50A51D55   M38

Im pretty sure that i figured out the bottom row... rear defog, front buckets, center console and turbo 350 trans but ther is no number before the M38 where the engine code is suppose to be and it hasen't been scraped off or anything will try to get a few pics up soon of what it looks like now

Thanks Jeff...

Sounds like a nice car Jeff. Yellow, black top and black bucket seat interior. I am a big fan of yellow cars.
You may want to send your VIN to Vintage Vehicle Services to verify the engine. Normally any engine upgrade would be on the cowl tag but mistakes have been known to be made.

Vin will come back as a 73637  V8 Custom
built in Oshawa
1969
and production order
thats all

one thing it wont be is a L65 350 2bbl as its too early for that (jan. 1969 and after)

L48 should be on the tag
like this one sent in

ST 69 73637 0S485921 PDY
R790 522E PN
2D U57L48M38
Body by Fisher

as for the LM1 ,maybe  .
the Documented LM1 car from Border didnt have LM1 on its tag ,or so the owner didnt see one?
LM1 was on his order sheet

So the LM1 was an option in these cars my dad said that he seems to remember that the air breather used to say 255HP on it. If this is the case then the guy at the dealership was just making stuff up, he told my dad it was a GM test motor i find that hard to belive ... but if its the LM1then maybe thats why the engine code is not on the tag.. I is definetly a 4 barrel Quadrajet just orderd a rebuilt kit for it today....Was the LM1 a popular motor in these cars?

Welcome Jeff. That Beaumont sounds interesting!

Usually, but not always, the trim tag would show an optional engine. Remember that the trim tag would alert the Fisher Body people if they needed notification to make any mods to the body before pushing through "the hole in the wall" to the assembly line. M38 is list on the trim tag so Fisher Body needed to know that for any body modifications. If the 350 V8 in and of itself required no body modifications then it didn't matter if Fisher Body was notified. Certainly big blocks were noted on the trim tag.

My 1967 Chevelle has an extra cost 250 six, optional over the base 230. L22 does not appear on my trim tag, only M35. My car left the factory with a U63 AM radio but that didn't even appear on my trim tag. My optional wheel covers & whitewalls didn't appear there either because Fisher Body didn't give a hoot about those.
