1984 Corvette, Strathroy Ontario

A fellow offered this Corvette on trade for my 58 Dodge. I don't really have a use for an 84 Corvette so I told the guy I'd post it on here for him. I drove it and it seemed to drive ok. All gauges worked. AC not working. 199k I believe. New rubber. Not original colour (was silver). Painted 7 years ago and looks pretty good. He showed me an appraisal for 11k. He'd like $7500.

If anyone is interested PM me and I'll put you in contact with the owner.

everyone wants to trade-sign of the times

I wouldn't hold my breath on a sale-not saying its not worth it but member Earl has had an early nines converible for sale for just a little more $ 84's have always been a tough sell.

You should trade him-everyone should have a corvette at least once

It drove ok but it really didn't do anything for me. It's not weird enough. You know my tastes!

That car looks real familiar. Last year Elgin Chrysler in St. Thomas had an 84 sitting on the lot for the longest time for a couple grand more than this asking price. I just saw it a month or so ago at a house south of town heading to Port Stanley. Same colour as that, gotta be same car. When it was on the lot it looked like it had a leak someone in the back? Are those stock seat covers?

I'm not sure if those are the original seat covers. It is a copper colour (it looks more reddish in these photos). Could be the same car. This guy said he took it on a trade.

THe 84's are a tough sell. Cease Fire Fuel injection and poor ride makes them so.

You will not be happy with an 84. First year for the then-new body style, all new chassis, rode rough, that miserable Cross-Fire injected engine was a dog. The 85's were a whole different story, proper Tuned Port injection, suspension refinements, very nice car.

I tried an 84 and waited until 85 and it was one of the better decisions I've made.

Don't buy the 84, my strongest recommendation.

By the way, avoid 68 Corvettes too - nothing wrong with the engines, last year for the 327 (69 went to 350) but they were excellent motors. The body however suffered poor fitment, and there was insufficient insulation at the firewall and floor, you would roast to death on a hot day from the heat that poured into the passenger compartment.

Again, first year for the body style (although the chassis was same as 65-67).

69's were MUCH better.

I did own a 68 cry.gif

Hi Ray. I don't want to see Todd end up with a harder sell than the Dodge, and I'm more a Corvette guy. 68 & 84 are years to avoid in the Corvette world. The other bad thing is all the a$$hats who want a Vette and have no money, brains, or manners.
