Bienvenue from Mo-Ray-Al

Well, here I am. Be gentle with me.

I'm the proud owner of a gold 1985 Parisienne that this summer made the run from Montreal to Pontiac for the Woodward dream cruise under it's own steam. Bought it this year (spent 4 years trying to get a full size stationwagon to no avail) from the son in law of the original owner ... along with all the repair receipts from the last 2 decades, including the original bill of sale ... but not the window sticker.

For sure welcome, looking forward to a few pictures as well. I am a bit odd for a Torontonian, I actually like the Montreal Canadiens, my second favourite team behind my beloved Leafs. The only time I cheer against the Habs is when Toronto is the opponent. biggrin

Didn't find the cable yet, but I found one photo that I'd already pulled off it. Here ya go.P1000166.JPG

I was set up with the Pontiac Widetrackers. Great people to hang with while sucking exhaust fumes and burnouts.

Do you need the wire hubcaps for it?

Naw thanks. It's got the 4 rally wheels that I'm gonna clean up. I've only got two on in the photo because 2 of the centre caps had broken springs and the steel winter wheels looked better than the rallies without their caps. A bit of trading at Woodward resolved that lack and now I've got the 4 on.

Welcome Prof! Your car looks solid from the picture. I always liked the big GM cars. The big B-body cars from 1977-1990 were good cars. I used to own a 1977 Olds 98 Regency with a 403. It was a good and comfortable car but it used a lot of gas. I got rid of it in 1989 when I had to pay $50 to fill the tank. Ha, it would be $150 to fill it now.

I'm averaging $70 for a tank right now. The Previous Owner (P.O.) had the tank replaced in 2004. The gas gauge, tho, isn't accurate. I don't know yet if it's the gauge, the wire or the sensor itself. I'm told that there were 2 ranges for tank sensor-gauges with different resistance ranges .. and I suspect the tank sensor may have been replaced with the wrong one ... but then why would the P.O. not have taken it right back and gotten it sorted? Because the gauge does work, just not accurately. When I fill ... the dash gauge goes half a turn past full, and comes most of the way back as I drive ... I usually fill when it reaches under half, costing that $70 .... and it's very sensitive to surging. Pulling away hard, or taking a quick corner pushes the gauge about noticeably.

As for solid ... yessir .. the P.O. had it rustproofed every year for the last 20. Unfortunately, it did rust from the top down .... in the cowl. So I've got water infiltration running down the firewall and it's taken out the driver's side floor. Nothing I can't fix, tho, although Keystone doesn't have floorpans for this model. I've yet to check with Cross Canada. If neither have ... well, i've got a break and a bead roller for a reason .... and a ton of old computer cases for metal.

Why do these things always turn up when I'm not looking for them anymore.

That's a good looking one. Mine doesn't have the bumper extensions. Can you imagine how nice a ride that would be on those new 110k highways they just put in (wait, that was 5 years back, wasn't it?) Still, that would be an awesome drive, Fredericton to Montreal.

Nice ride you have there. I miss the ride from those big cars...so smooth. I had an '81 model, plain jane when I first got a license. We beat the crap out of that thing and it always ran.

Hey Player.

Bernie ... that's exactly why I bought this. These new cars are cheap to run, start all the time, take off without a second of warm up ... right up until something tiny fails and then it's thumb it to the next exit and hope there's a phone. These thing ... unless something catastrophic happens, you'll always be able to limp home.

That's what I tell everyone when they complain about their local traffic. One guy from Atlanta specifically ..... Gawd, their traffic system is a wet dream compared to what we deal with. Even Toronto, i went through there at rush hour and barely slowed from 100.
