The new phonebooks are here! The new phonebooks are here!

Okay, they really aren't... but my Canadian Poncho is! The Astre got delivered last night. The sound heard resonating across the upper Midwest last night was a sonic B-O-I-N-G.

So, the car wouldn't start. Tried and tried to no avail. Call buddy over to help push up driveway into garage. Old guy next door comes over. Takes a look over... says "The choke ain't working right..." Cripes, I had to really think what was the last car I had the had a carburator on it... It is like most of that knowledge has taken a permanent vacation from my memory. brainless.gifimslow.gif

Darn grumpy old man next door! Well, he got it running by holding the choke open and it brought a smile to his face. Told me how to adjust the choke when it was cold.

Sure as heck, made the adjustment this afternoon and spent the rest of the day driving around St. Cloud. I could not count how many waves, thumbs up, and honks I got driving around. I had a guy, in a parking lot,say to me,  "What do you mean it's a Pontiac, man... you're making that up!" Nope, I am not.

Yeah. It was awesome. That car rocks.

Time for a Blue, eh? beer.gif

You got yourself a car not often thought of in the phrase Canadian Pontiac but for sure it is 100%. Owned two, a 73 and 74, Got in a debate in Washigton over the '73. Some grumpy old man wouldn't believe it wasn't a Vega, he wanted to know where I got the custom tail lights for my Vega. He was in disbelief when I showed him the nameplate "Astre by Pontiac".

speaking of phone books, we got ours a week ago, what a joke!!! Covers all of Durham Region, They dropped the cities, everybody's name is in book by alphabet, gives name & street # but no location, so if you don't know the exact addr. & theres more than one with the same name, your up SH%TS creek. At least b-4 you could narrow it down to a town or city. Talk about "cut backs" how much did they save by grouping everyone together?? Soon there will be no phone book!!!!

Congrats on bringing the "Canadian Vega"  home. Besides the choke, I hope you didn't forget what your "special purpose" is for! wink

Also, talking about phone books;
This year The Yellow Pages bought the rights to the PEI phone book. Well guess which section they put in the front of the book ... right, The Yellow Pages! People are still P.O.'d here ... first time ever.
The cover even looks like just The Yellow Pages are enclosed ... no pretty pictures, just yellow hmm

By-the-way the the PEI phone book is just an inch thick, even with The Yellow Pages ... that small for a whole province! biggrin

My "special purpose"... LOL! I plan on doing this a lot. I might be able to sent home some extra money next week, too...

My Panel is not a Vega. It is an Astre. A Pontiac. It is cooler than a Chevrolet. It is a Pontiac. All Pontiacs are cooler than Chevrolets. The name is even cooler.

and it is Canadian.

I might have to paint it Blue...

Wasn't it "These oil cans are all defective" because somebody was shooting and they were all being punctured?

Nice car, haven't seen a panel Astre or Vega in sometime.   Can remember when the local salvage yard had about twenty Vega's and Astre's about ten years ago.

Heard some kid ask his dad what they were and the father didn't know.   I had to tell him what they were.   It was a shame too because a couple of them were in pretty good shape by BC standards and car show condition for anywhere else in Canada.
