Clean 74 Vega BC

Super cheap and looks super clean. I'd leave it alone except perhaps drop in a Buick V6 or a small block.

This is a Vega Estate Wagon.Much sought after car for the souper-upper guys; Why?Cause any small block chevy engine will bolt in easily;4.3 or 5.7 would be used most. This car is basically rust free;having done no winters. The 2.5 engine has been rebuilt and the carb. rebuilt.Gets about 40 mpg.Original buckets etc. all in fairly decent shape.Brand new Battery.Project or driver.Hasn't run for 3 years so there are less than 150 miles on the rebuild. Will sacrifice for$2,900 or best offer.Must sell before winter cause I have no extra storage.Car is west of Humboldt a few miles on my acreage.Call Dave at 682-4703,,,

I always thought those cars were good looking, but they had rusting problems, and the early ones had other numerous problems like oil consumption, faulty axles, overheating, throw-away linerless engine blocks (through 1974).

I remember a fleet of brand new 1974 Pontiac Astre 2-door sedans as Mothers Pizza deliver cars in Paris, Ontario. Did you know the Pontiac Astre used 1968 Firebird tail lights?

Wow Cam, that kind of information makes my world go around.

'68 Firebird tail lights on Pontiac Astre's.

Who would have thunk it!

I owned a '73 Vegamatic.
I liked the earlier ones front end styling better ... they looked like a baby Camaro.
I drove the crap out of it (it didn't take much).

You are right! A 215 would be perfect in a Vega!

The 74 Vega at the top is fairly rare with a trunk. Most of them were hatchbacks or wagons.

I had one with a 427, but had to sell it, as it was too hard on fuel  disbelief

I always thought they would be nice with a Vortec V6 in them. I had an Aste hatchback at one point with a 4 gear and thought about it. Too bad I sold it......

i used to have a 72, with a 396, 4spd, and a full cage. that little car was so quick, you didnt have to downshift or look to see if there was any oncoming traffic while passing. i traded it for a 1980 monza spyder with a 400 sb.

There is an article in Hot Rod this month where they installed a 5.3 LS motor in a Notch Back Vega. Man did it look nice under the hood.
