Well they played well enough to win tonight so having a good game against one of the top rated teams like the Canucks is a very good sign.

The Leafs have a lot of decent players. It is painfully obvious to me and I think a growing number of people that Ron Wilson is the problem. He is a very negative and de-motivating coach. With a young team you need to be a good role model that is upbeat and positive and encouraging these young guys. Wilson is just plain caustic.

The other thing that is often overlooked is that when teams come into Toronto for a Saturday Night game it is televised on Hockey Night in Canada across the country. This is a big deal for every Canadian player and they more often that not have family at the game or at least watching and as a result the visiting teams get really pumped for the games. Look at the number of Hot goalies the Leafs run into, even Luongo tonight was excellent especially in the third when the Leafs were bringing it.

Another major factor in the Leafs lack of success is the Fans. True the place is sold out BUT the Fans at the game are terrible. The ACC is really a huge restaurant and bar and a hockey game happens to be played. So many people at the rink are first timers and are interested in having a nice meal and a few drinks on whoever's tab invited them there. The Platinum Crowd doesn't even see half the game, they never come back to their seats for at least the first 8 minutes each period. What an embarrassment playing in a rink with the first 10 rows empty like that.

It is such ashame that with all that money and huge fan support accros the country management can't put a better product on the ice.

I seen all the empty seats and was wondering why. The Leafs did play a good game but not good enough to beat out the West Coast team, LOL.

You have to be honest with yourself, Luongo was the difference tonight, even Jim Hughson who is the biggest Vancouver homer said they got away with one at  the end of the game. This road trip has been good for the Canucks but they looked tired. Stops in Buffalo and Pittsburgh before going home, it will be interesting to see if they can keep it going. If they can win the next two on the road it will establish them as clear contenders.

Yes it did , however I wouldn't be looking at him, he's been their best player all year. My son is a goalie so I feel for Giggy but at the same time he make eight saves he had no right to make, we often overlook that when the goalie lets in the softies.

Another thing to know is long shots that look easily stoppable to us most often cause goalies trouble because the puck does not travel in a straight line. Much like a curve ball or sinker in baseball the curved sticks can make the puck do a lot of strange things on a long shot, especially shots with moderate speed. Ya I know I making excuses for all the goaltenders but hey it takes a special guy to that job.

Ray it wouldn't have been so bad if Giggy hadn't opened his mouth about his team mates play the other day! Although I think what he said it was warranted. The younger players looked better last night, Kadri may help but a more upbeat modern coaching style wouldn't hurt!

Just before he let that easy goal in " or so we think it was easy one" Giggy took a hack at Samuelson with his stick, the announcers were concerned he might have been thinking about that when he let that goal in. Looked like he hit him in the tender region.

I think the Leaf fans were out numbered by Canuck fans.
Luuuuuuu was cheered in a Toronto house confuseconfuse That would suck for a home team.....fans are a big part of a game

I used to be a huge Leafs fan, finally gave up on them when they let Sundin go. The team is interested only in paying dividends to the owners, the teachers' pension fund. All the games are sold out, the reason there may be empty seats is because the ticket holders choose to do something else that evening, maybe watch a Junior A game somewhere. The best thing for hockey fans is for another NHL team come to Hamilton or Kitchener. That would force the Leafs to ice a better team. This won't happen under Bettman's tenure.
