65 beaumont question

well.. the car is on the edge of completed, but there have been a few snags in the process.. I actually pulled it out into the yard and drove it for about 300 feet.. but the throughout bearing sounds like hell and the brakes need a re-bleed.. but.. for the most part.. the car is together.

Question:  the "eyebrows" are being a HUGE pain in the a@@ to install so I'm asking anyone with some to have a look at them to see if the bottom stud is actually there or is it just a casting button.  the chrome company actually installed a new stud in this position on mine.  But out of 6 or 7 I have on the shelf, there isnt one with that stud in place.

I can't help the eyebrow part but it sounds like you need a clutch adjustment.

Is there any freeplay in the clutch pedal? If so, how much?

Kelly I have them with full studs but none of them fit right. It's easier to put on one with that lower stud missing and use the joint at the bottom of the grill to suck the eyebrow back. All eyebrows are different and they won't fit perfect. I will post one of my newly install grill in the blue SD rag project if you like. I pissed around for hours but finally accepted that these 40 year old parts arn't perfect.

clutch seems to have good travel before engage and disengage, but is sounds like the "throw out" bearing is pooched as it rattles like hell when you press the pedal and stops when you release it.
weird since it's new.

I dont think the studs on the eyebrows are actually broken.. I think they were never there. Only a boss for putting one there if needed.

but.. not 100% on that

Thanks guys

Paul.

thanks man. I would love to see the photos for sure.
it's good to hear that there is at least one eyebrow with all the studs.. LOL.. then again.. what a pain for fit up.. I'm going to suggest that we remove the bottom stud and move on.

thanks again

Is the release bearing installed correctly on the fork?

Lots of people put the retainer clip on the wrong side of the fork when they install it.

I was thinking the pressure plate is hooped. Some brand new ones even do that.
