our 66 parisienne aka the tin indian

i spotted this car about 10 ys ago sitting in a driveway. at that time it was white, and full of red primer spots, i stopped in to look at the car, it was super, super solid, with a set of b.c. plates, that had a tag from aug. 1981. but not for sale. about 4 yrs later the went up for sale, he wanted $7500.  for the car! wich was about 4k overpriced. i waited it out for about 3yrs, then the car was painted back to its orig. colour. it was the nastiest paint & body job, i have ever seen. the car was ruined. the car had more dents, warped body work, and a tremclad looking finish. i was disgusted on what was done to that car. but i remebered what the car looked like before that owner, got his grimey little paws on it. the for sale sign went back on, it was now going for $6500. i waited it out for another yr. it was down to $5000. about 2yrs later, we bought a house almost across the street from that car, talk about taunting me! the guy that owned the car quickly realized that i was a severe gearhead. he is a mopar lover, and it didnt take him long to notice my ramcharger, in the making. we started talking and about 6 mos later i finally got that car for $3500. remeber i though it was about 4k overpiced? lol. it didnt take him long to realize what a good home the car went to, after seeing alot of custom cars, and paint & body jobs that rolled out of my garage. i got to see some of his other projects he had on the go. he was the guy that did the paint & body job on my car! he starts to tell me about a 7 yr build hes been on with his 67 baracuda. i,m intrigued........ he opens the garage door............ and guess what? another beautiful car, masaquerd by the  same idiot! it was the same mess all over again.  anyways, he comes over about 3 months later and i get a video tape. this car was used in the shania twain movie when it was white! you think that would of been a selling point for all those yrs! anyways, i have the car now, its in a great home now, and it will never sleep outside again. here are some pics so far.

Sure looks like you started off with a sound car. Most of them weigh a lot less than when they were new!

the colour we,re going with is very close to orig. the 427 is shot the same colour the car is going. its called medium calypso met pearl. (its a ford  coulour, from 97) it has a course met. and a lot of depth. should look good with a set of polished torque thrusts.

Great story! That engine is almost too nice to put in there. Looks like it should be under glass!
Nice job!

thank you all for the compliments, jhonathan d, the best stripper out there is made by talstrip. its about 45$ a gallon, nothing else works a well. on a classic i refuse to take away from the orig metal, this is the way to go. it took me about 2 1/2 - 3 gallons to cut through all 3 layers of paint.

I've used Talstrip about 1/2 dozen different cars also and have been very happy with it.

I love peeling old cars down to the metal. There's something about starting fresh...
