New from Kootenay

Hey folks, new to the site, been hanging around Beaumont body forum thought I would say hi to all.  Have a 65 Beaumont Custom Wagon.  Been in the family since new, has all the nice trim, fender mirrors, roof rack, big A hubcaps, 230 with glide.  Needs paint, front seat upholstery, and a bit of interior trim, but its all there as original.  Bought car from my dad at 14 in 1972, it was his first new car in 65.  Will post some photos as soon as I can get it out of its shop, 2 feet fresh snow and tonight -30, don't even want to try start it at that temp.  This is a great site, already got good feedback on a question I posted!

Welcome.
We never get tired of pictures. Especially with winter coming and most of the cars tucked away.

I was quite supprized by that too.  Must have been just after buying first computer, and had no idea what I was doing.   I just re-discovered the site a few days ago!  So after 2+ years of being a member, I finally posted.  Talk about inept!  Much more comfortable with wrench's than a keyboard.

Hey Chris, just wondering where you live in the Kootenay's. My father lives in Creston (Erickson). The Kootenay valley is one of the nicest areas of our great country. I try to make out a few times a year. We used to have a cottage on the Kootenay Lake years ago and it was where we went for holidays. The lake road is a thrill to drive with anything that can carve corners well.

I'm in Old Town an old gold mining village from 1867, its exactly halfway between Cranbrook and Kimberley, and about an hour and a quarter north of Creston B.C.  Next time you are coming through give me a heads up and stop by for a visit.

Sounds great!  Quite often I take that route rather than the Crowsnest Pass because I love the change of scenery.  Probabaly won't make it out until next spring or summer  but I would love to see your car and BS for a few minutes.

Welcome! Who would ever think that wagons would have been considered cool? Your 65 looks like a great piece of history and I like it a lot. I also love the fact that there is a nice and simple 230 under the hood. Hats off to you for holding onto it all these years and leaving it unmolested.

I was out at Lake Louise last summer, probably close to where you are. God's country for sure!

It really is funny. I have other muscle cars, but everyone wants to see the wagon.
The biggest reason I still have it is because of a really good buddy, who stored it and was
forced to look at it every day on his farm. Many people wanted parts off it over the years
but he protected it like a mother hen. That's why it was just as I left it 23 years earlier.
He deserves all the credit for it still being here.
