I have two 1973 Grand Ams. The white one shown here  is a 4 speed and has no engine but has transmission. The floor and frame is solid, the body is in good shape. The glass is all good as well. A 1973 Grand Am 4 speed is rare. The black Grand Am shown has excellent floor and frame. Could be used for parts or restoration. This one also has no engine or transmission and is automatic.

Too far from me but the 4 gear would make a great weekend warrior!

The four speed car was for sale in Newfoundland in late 2009 also less engine. Looks like it migrated to Nova Scotia with no change in resto status.

I seem to remember that for 1973 Pontiac installed only 187 4-speeds into Grand Ams. SIX of those 187 were 4-doors! That is the U.S production; I wonder how many 4-speed Grand Ams were sold new in Canada?

My understanding is that up to 74 it would have been a Muncie M20. However I  never did look at this car up close, though I did see it driving around town a few times.

I USED to believe that the Muncies were used behind Pontiacs from 1964 through 1974 until I found a picture of a new 1971 Pontiac V8 with a B-W Super T10. That, plus in 1989 my neighbor brought out his new purchase, a 1972 Lemans GT hardtop from the original owner. It had been stored every winter including 2 weeks after being delived in November 1971. To our surprise when we checked underneath it was running a Super T10 and factory Hurst shifter. It was a 400 4-barrel, 3.55 Safe-T-Track, manual steering & brakes, plus GTO side splitters (original tips!). So... it would appear that the B-W trans started to replace the Muncie in 1971, not late 1974 (for Pontiacs.)

The POCI A Body 1973-77 Tech guru posts on the A Body Site. He refutes this number of 187 with evidence from the Grand Am registry. I can't recall his estimate but it id over 500. Still low.

We have a member on here who also posts on A Body and he has two Grand Ams sold here. He has the production figures for his cars, Robert from Alberta GLM76 I believe is his user ID.
