455 car ? I took out a 455 from a 1974 Grand Safari back in the 90s for a friend of mine, he got it rebuilt at SDPerformance in BC for his 1969 GTO, the engine was bored and stroked to a 468 powerhouse.

engine,, I'm told was a 400,, pulled for a T/A before I got the hulk..

on another note,, I picked up another 455, it is Stamped SR7202 or something like that, was supposed to have been in a 76 T/A 4 gear car.

I assume the SR is for Service Replacement, there is no 2 letter application code that I can find....

I had a Super Duty 455 NOS block years ago and it was stamped SR so I am pretty sure you are right.

Now this is one of those odd facts, in 1974 Canadian built Pontiac Wagons got the 400 small block while cars got the 400 Pontiac.

Was the same true in '75?

My '75 Laurentian wagon had a 400 SBC.

I have a 455 engine from a 75 Parisienne, very low compression ratio (7.5 I think), needs complete rebuild. Does anybody know what is the performance potential of this engine? It had lots of torque and could propel the old Parisienne well beyond its 120 needle peg before it spun a bearing.

Very good. Just trash the heads for some earlier ones to bump up the compression. Trash the stock intake for an aftermarket unit and buy some more cam for it. Instant stump puller!

Send off a E-mail to Dave Bissop at SD Performance in BC and he will give you some good direction to make it a axel snapper.

1971 GTO/Firebird 400 heads casting # 96 are good on top of a 455 as well or 1975-79 6X heads... Here is another set of real cheap 1972 7K3s in Kijiji Calgary :
