1949 239 Six Rear motor mounts

So, today while under my car, I noticed that my rear motor mounts are in dire shape, in fact, on the passenger side, there was no rubber left!

I notice that they look much different than the ones listed for sale on ebay.  Is there a difference between the american motor mounts and the Canadian?

What have you other fellows done?

Thanks a bunch!

I have no idea.  I've never even seen another flat six!  I guess I need to get out more.

Yeah for the time being, I replaced the rubber with some mahogany while I sort this out. It looks like the side mounts are just there for torque, not weight. I'll have to look more closely tomorrow.

I think they are the same as 53-54, but could you post a picture of the old one on your car, just to be sure about your need.

The rear motor mounts commonly offered on Ebay and other suppliers in the US appear to be for the Hydramatic transmission. The standard transmission IMHO takes a smaller mount that looks like a "z" with 2 bolt holes on either end- or maybe this is just a Canuk thing.??

Actually this is covered in another post MOTOR MOUNTS on page 2. My "z" is actually described as an "m". Last item on the catalogue page.

I just found this one, look to be the same, and cheap!

if they are anything like my 54 yes they will be different from the american model.I ended up finding mine on ebay and looked under 41-49 chevrolet.I do have the numbers someplace as well if you need them.Seems like our canadian pontiacs were made up of leftover parts from earlier years.

I ordered the ones mentioned from Chevs of The Forties and they are the exact ones found originally on my '50. You must use the additional OEM cast iron 3-hole bracket from the bell housing to the motor mount.
