This is a gorgeous 1968 muscle car with a 395/325HP "big block" V-8. It has an automatic transmission with a centre console shift. It is a numbers matching Impala Sport Coupe (Fastback) nicely restored as an Impala Supersport.
I paid much more than I am currently asking in 2007 and have done a lot of work to the vehicle, including installing new dual exhaust, new seals and gaskets throughout and a new carburator. It doesn't leak a drop of oil. I just replaced the seals and gaskets in October.
To my knowledge, the engine has not been rebuilt. It shows 35000 miles on the Odometer, so the motor is probably getting a little tired. I estimate 200,000km. I cannot provide a more accurate number than this. That said, it runs great and shifts great!
This car is not only a great driver, but it looks fabulous. There is NO rust and the body is straight as an arrow. The interior is white on black with no rips in the seats. There is a new dash in the truck. The existing dash has a small tear in the middle.
In terms of work, the heater and Air Conditioning need repair, the TAC needs to be hooked up and the Speedometer cable needs to be replaced. The only body damage is a small dent in the back bumper and the passenger side armrest needs to be fixed/replaced. NOT TOO SHABBY FOR A 43 YEAR OLD MUSCLE CAR.
I am only selling this vehicle because my wife and I downsized to a condo and no longer have garage space. I don't want to leave this car on the street. Car has always been garage stored. It is presently garage stored off site, so please give me some notice to arrange a viewing. When warmer days arrive I will have it at my residence....but not until then....
I will consider a trade for a small, lower mileage and reliable 4WD truck or SUV that I can use in the winter instead of my car. I am looking at a Nissan Frontier (with a short box), an older 4 Runner, Pathfinder or a Wrangler. I will consider any short box truck.
This is a very nice big block, 43 year old muscle car. I am not saying it perfect, but it would display nicely at a show-in-shine. As it will take time to arrange a viewing, NO TIRE KICKERS PLEASE. I have tried to provide a lot of honest information so you can determine whether you are even interested from reading this post.
Serious inquiries only.
Email me if interested, and I will give you my telephone number to speak in more detail. I am not a mechanic, not an expert on muscle cars, but I know how rare these nice, old, original cars are.....
I am not giving this car away, but I will entertain seriouse offers.
I agree that GM styling was on the top of their game in the mid to late '60s and every year the new cars were very exciting. These Impalas look just right in the design department to my eye.
Sweet looking car with a nice colour combo of red over white.
66-69 full size are my favorite B-Body Chevys with 68 being maybe the most favored. I have to admit that of all the body styles the fastback is least desirable to me. But this is one nice looking car nevertheless.
