Hi all: This is a new area for me, I've never had an Acadian before. I want to convert my 3 on the tree to a floor shift automatic. My column has all of the linkages hanging out and I want to tidy things up with a straight column. Do I have to find one that is specific to an Acadian or Nova? I prefer (obviously) a column from a floor shift car.
I have a floor shift column out of my Beaumont.. but I dont think it's even close to what you need. if someone can verify one way or the other for you. I'd let it go your way. I put in a Tilt column, so I dont need it anymore.
No, I'm afraid you have to have a Nova or Acadian column for this one. It's a crazy setup. The shaft in the steering column goes right into and is part of the steering box. It's a bit of a task to change it over to an auto column. Not as simple as on a Beaumont or full size car.

HEY THERE,I SEE YOU HAVE PUT A TILT COLUMN IN YOUR CAR,I HAVE A 65 ACADIAN AND WOULD LIKE TO PUT A TILT COLUMN,I HAVE A HEIDTS FRONT END AND I NEED TO RUN A DIFFERENT COLUMN,WHAT DID YOU GO WITH?
The hard stuff to find will be the shift linkage (unless you are using aftermarket) the rest of the column is the same, you can just grind off the shifter part and fill it then repaint
