Im going to pick up a new one hopefully tommorow and i dont want to kill this one. Anybody know where to get cheap batteries ?? quickest test is to pull the negative cable off the battery post when the car is running. try it with the head lights on. if the car dies or the lights go very dim, then the alternator or regulator is shot.

Touch the back of the alternator right in the centre (back end of the bearing) with the car running. If it's a magnet and pulls on the screwdriver, it's charging.

No buddy close by with a voltmeter? It should be at least 14 volts if you test the battery with the car running.

14 should be fine. You can try the magnet test but 14 volts says it doing fine. Sounds like battery time.

         What do I do?

Use a 2" hole saw on the hood to allow the handle thru when closed.
