From the factory there were two phillips head screws (flanged head) holding each plug. Also, there was ample sealer applied to the back of each one. It was the kind of sealer that never really cures totally.

I have never been able to find a duplicate as far as texture and curing goes. Maybe someone who has will chime in.

I had the same question a while ago. Here is the thread: http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t42629691/hoping-for-some-guideance/?r=130956

To make a long story short, I used a seam sealer as suggested.  Hope this helps?

seamsealer is the way to go, & make sure you put them the right way up, I have pulled alot of 66 &67 apart & the raised rim was always facing upwards into the car.

The new ones I have are predrilled with two holes! And the ones installed in trunk are screwed!!! Doesn't matter, I can do just the seal! Thanks guys!!!

I used Seam Sealer from Car Quest  to renew the seams (in red oxide)

See, by looking at that photo it makes sense that the plug with raised center faces up! Cause then it would match the holes in my floor board!!
