1968 8-track player

Anyone have pictures of their factory under dash tape player in their car? My car came with one but I've never installed it. I'm thinking about putting it in before Chevellabration, the big Chevelle show next month. I need the location and to know how the back is mounted. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, James

It mounts the same as GTO. If you have a GTO restoration guide everything is shown on page 469. It is directly under the ashtray.

It looks like a strap and a bracket that mounts to the inner heater box.

Thanks Brad. I don't have the GTO restoration guide but it looks like I have everything I need. I need to check to make sure I have the correct heat duct in the car.

If you would like an actual scan of that GTO guide page I can likely help you out with that.

I had a spare but sold it a few years ago. Here is what it looks like. Your car should have it if it was a factory console (and it wasn't missing). They were used in 68 and 69 for cars with console or factory tape player.

Carl, A scan of that page would be great. Can you email it to me at jfkheat at aol.com?
Brad, It should already have the correct duct. It it doesn't, I have one that I bought a few years ago just in case.
