1967 Taillight housing finish

Could someone tell me what the grey finish is on the inner area of the tailights? The grille also has this same grey finish in some areas. A manufacture or paint supplier name would be great. Mine are scratched & need to be re-done. Thanks

I know the finish you are talking about. Almost every commercial "chrome in a can" never looks like chrome, it looks just like the taillight housing surface. Mine are a satin silver with a slight texture. I tested a few chrome rattle cans on plastic recently and didnt get great results, but I did get an perfect match for that surface. I bought 5 brands, all from Canadian Tire and 4 of the 5 matched.(in my opinion). I dont know what product was used at the factory.

Thanks for the reply. I restore muscle cars for a living & have never dealt with this finish either. I now live in Michigan but come home to Manitoba twice a year. I will have to stop by a Canadian tire this summer & take a look if I do not find anything here. If I do, I will post it. Thanks again.

Let me know when you hit Carman this year. Maybe I can come for a ride and we can have ice cream at Syl's Drive In. I've never been there but hear it's real good.

Hey, know any Vanderveens? I work with one of them.

I used chrome spray paint. I will post pictures later. It looks good to me. I painted mine almost 20 years ago so I don't remember the brand.

Sounds good. Will be there sometime before Sept. long weekend before kids back in school. I know Andy & a couple of the other Vanderveens. Went to school with a couple of the in the 80's. I used to mow the lawn at Syl's back when is was 15-16 years old. How time flies!

Would that be the same "grey" finish that is on the grill of the 68 Beaumont as well? Is it just a generic chrome spray?
