I posted a link on the 348/409 site. There are people on there that know a lot about 61 409 Impalas. I noticed there are no block casting numbers in the add.

Yes thats right. Dont argue.

This is a 1961 Impala with a 409. The only one ever made that year. The original engine is in there.

It has 72000 miles on it. One owner. Its one of a kind.

It has a 4 barrel with posse traction.

Its been parked in the garage for the past 15+ years. Selling the house and moving to the lake. Time to move on.

Will not take less then $15000 or trade for a boat of equal value.

This will be posted on eBay as soon as I figure out how to do it.

I'll post this again because Carl's $15,000 boat covered my post. LOL

appears to have the 6 cyl or 283 grille emblem, not the crossed flags 348/409 emblem.

and is that a 2bbl? 409s were 4bbls.

Ya,  it is really hard to see those emblems.

It would be a 348 car at best.

Being a one owner car. It could have had a W-block transplanted as per buyers request.....anything is possible.

If its a canadian car(which i think it is),  easy to check #s.

But the car would have been born with a 348 at the very most.

Mr. 409 will whip this guy into reality pretty quick i'm sure.  and bring him down to planet earth.  after all it is the very rare and totaly worthless 4dr HT bodystyle.

Someone once told me a 348 and 409 have the engine oil dipstick and tube on opposite sides. Is that true?

Never mind, went to 348-409 site and it says this engine (according to the stick) is a 348.

I called my 409 buddy in the US and of course he wants to hear more. I emailed requesting a contact number to call him.

I kinda figured this one would create a little discussion as soon as I saw the add, so just had to share.wink

Seems like Jim got some nice responses too over on the 348/409 site, I like the metric 409 = 348 comment over there.smile

my email response nothing to show for shure

With the large response weve got from this ad. I am going to have the car moved away from the garage wall so people can come down and go over it. It does have a 409 in it. You will see it in there. This car was custom ordered from the factory with this engine in it. We are off to the lake and will be back some time next week. Once we have the car out so people can go all around it
