Found a 66 Grande Parisienne Convertible today!

I know, I know, they didn't make them, but on 97th street in Edmonton where i was today for work some guy has made one out of a 66 custom sport convert and it looks pretty good.  Didn't have a camera of any description with me but I'm going back Friday to talk a bit of parts swapping so I will take a few snaps and one  for the registry.

Its always been a mystery to me why they didn't offer one in that style in 66 as converts were usually sort of high end cars.

Oh well pics coming soon...

Not too sure exactly about timing until tomorrow but I like the idea!  I'll be in touch once I figure it out.

All right!  Managed to grab a coffee with the good Captain and scope his  original righteous 67 beaumont and talk again to the owner of the 66 Grande Parisienne Convertible phantom today.  He wasn't really interested in the forum as far as I can tell but he did let me take a few pictures. It wasn't in a great position to get as front shot though.  Unfortunately I couldn't get one of the tag but I did find out from it that it was produced on March 30  1966.

He also said that the convertible custom sport was a small block powerglide car originally.  He put the 396 in that was in his totalled hardtop along with the GP trim.

Here are the pictures.

I love that he did it the right way, tail panel and all.

One of the nicest rear treatments ever done to a car, but I carry a bit of a bias...
