Have been trying to desifer what this code means on my 60 paresienne, its on a small pad on the block located on the passenger side just below the head. (9v158457). I have searched all over with no luck. The casting is3756519 which is 58-62 283 170 hp.Im trying to detrmine if its the original motor . thx any help would be appreciated
I DON'T THINK THIS VIN# IS STAMPED ON THE OLDER ENGINES. IF YOU GET THE GM VINTAGE VEHICLES REPORT IT WILL MOST LIKELY LIST AN ENGINE #. MATCH THE ENGINE # TO WHAT'S STAMPED ON THE BLOCK. IF THEY ARE BOTH THE SAME, YOU HAVE THE BORN WITH ENGINE. HOPE THAT HELPS.

I had a look at the tag in the car by the door hinges on the driver side and on it has vin # and that # thats on the block , so it looks like a matching # car ,for the engine anyway. yay!
