yup i have 2 261's and am now looking for rebuild parts.

i have amassed some speed goodies (edelbrock duel carb intake, corvette split exhaust manifold, vette duel point distributor,"848" 235 cyl head and s'more goodies.

i have just torn into the first 261 and it will need a complete rebuild so i am looking for parts and having some issuies as most sites only show usa truck 235's.

yup love me some torpedo back.

the chevy version is called a fleetline what was the pontiac version called?
i have seen leader back, and laddr back both used?

A hardy welcome aboard from Milton, Ontario. I love your choice of motor, the 261 inline GM six is a fabulous engine. I have one in my 57 Pontiac. I recomend that you check out INLINERS INTERNATIONAL at their net site. You will learn a lot about that great engine on that site and of course on our great CANADIAN PONCHOS site. There are a number of interesting articles on the 261 and 235 on this site once you learn to navigate on here, if you have not learned already. The 235 head that you have, should not be used on a 261 unless you drill the steam holes that are required. There is a trick to it and you being a mechanic should make the task easy. There are articles on that very subject. I love the look of a souped up six and they have no trouble getting the job done when properly set up. If you would like to talk GM 261 inliner i will leave a private message with my Milton phone number, you just live down the road from me. The other added benefit of having a vintage inliner six that is done like yours will be done, is that your car will be a breath of fresh air at car shows. In a sea of same old same old bent eights. Wishing you the best of luck with your sweet inliner machine. SIX IN A ROW WILL GO. Cheers. George.
