All too often, I point out that the old-car hobby is largely based on nostalgia guys wanting to rekindle memories of the cars they drove (or desperately wanted to drive) when they were in high school. This 1960 Pontiac Ventura for sale on Hemmings.com is a prime example of that, what with its baby moons and fuzzy dice. And every high-school senior in 1960 certainly desired a Tri-Power setup on his Poncho. From the sellers description:

Tri-Power 389 matching number engine. Automatic trans. Just recently recently (2009) restored, new paint, rechromed, tires, exhaust, trans rebuilt, engine compartment detailed. Has power steering and brakes. Very nice ride. Plenty of pictures during restoration.

See more Pontiacs for sale on Hemmings.com.

This is a super nice car!

Why would you even care to talk about crappy "fuzzy dice" when it comes to this car!no It's got so much more going for it! I'm grumpy tonight! biggrin

Ya, you might be right ... but your birth surname wouldn't be Freen would it?

...."three deuces and four-speed...and a 389....!" - Ronny and the Daytonas. Guess this one's missing one of those things but still a sweetheart....I dunno, there's something about 3-2's that just looks great. In the late 60's I had a bright yellow '56 Chevy wagon with a 283, 327/350 horse cam, 3-on-the-floor, full headers and 3-2's. On cruise nights (Fri./Sat.'s) at Harvey's on Yonge St. in Richmond Hill (anybody remember...?) I used to love liftin' the hood on that baby just to show off those 3-2's. A bitch to get in sync sometimes but my best buddy's dad was the head mechanic at our local GM dealer and he'd get those things runnin' just right. My buddy had a '31 Ford coupe with an Olds engine w 2-4bbls. I remember his dad workin' in the garage all one Friday night (while my buddy and I drank beer..) gettin' the idle on that big Olds with those two big Carter carbs down to about 750 RPM.

Multiple carbs is way cool...!

The correct tri carbs for a 1960 Pontiac 389 are extremely rare. I had a correct date coded intake for my 60 Catalina and never did find proper carbs. Turns out there are way more intakes than carbs. There were a lot of engine fires on tri carb setups due to improper fuel lines. Intakes would survive, carbs not so much.

a friend of mine in Sarnia, ON had Ventura with tri power right out of the box. Used to run  it at New Baltimore and Ubly, Mich.
