Good deal.

If you like, I can check for a spare choke rod. I might have one.

Yes that would be. The 6 in the fourth position represents the year. But could have been on a early production 67 car.

35 years of experince tells me that matching numbers is a pipe dream. The manufacture always reserves the right to sub parts. While that carb does code out as a 1966 model it's not like they were throwing them away when 1967 production started .

I have told this many times. Original owner of a 1973 Vette 454 was losing points at every event because the carb was coded as a 350 carb. He was only owner of the car. He wrote GM and they told him that production schedules and parts supply often required substitute parts. He was happy to meet me because I ended his 10 year search for a numbers  454 1973 carb, manual trans too. Even though GM never built it that way he was happy to put it on and restore his points.

Yes It's nice to have your car the exact way it rolled off the line,a lot of guys have put big money and effort into getting their ride just so.I think such an accomplishment deserves praise, but I see it here all the time, someone will post a pic of their car or motor and within minutes there's posts telling us all the things that are wrong with it- that's not the rite air cleaner - those tailights are from a 64 etc.

Sorry, my post sounded like I was disrespectful to the numbers match car guys. That is not it at all, I think this is the pinnacle of the hobby and have a lot of respect for people who restore this was. I was just trying to point out that when part numbers were put on parts 60 years this was done to aid assembly and repair. Most if not all cars had parts change over the years so putting them back to day one is a great accomplishement.

It did get a bit silly for a while. I think it has come around to just having a cool car again though. I never cared much about #s matching or I would have bought one.  My car was a 283 2 speed pg bench seat car. I am happy it's not original. I like the options I chose for my car. I would have ordered it this way.

Doesn't a numbers carb actually mean that the matched engine will run better, provided everything else is in spec? Are they not all adjusted and jetted slightly differently?

NO,runs the same, some owners & show people just get"anal" if the #'s don't match, points are the big goal in these kinds of shows. Don't think alot of those owners would even think about "driving" their cars, other than in & out of the trailer, met some of thses folks at the POCI convention in 05 & was not "impressed" with their attitude, but the others that had theirs cars in with us in general show were down to earth "REAL" people, & couldn't care less about points or the people in the "other" area

I don't care about points, cruise lawyers, and dumping thousands of dollars into original #'s parts (but if I can get them reasonably I will) ... but I do like an original looking car a lot.

Virtually all Quadrajets are 750 variable flow cfm carbs. This means the engine demands dicate how much air flows. A 350 engine running optimally will only ever need 600 cfm or so. GM made this versitile carb to be used in most applications.

There are a few exception where special High performamce engines have different jetting and tunning from the factory carb like the RAM AIR Pontiac engines. There are also a few Quadrajets that flow to 800 cfm. Most notably are all the Buick 455 carbs 1972 to 1974 #7042240, #7043240, #7044240. Many guys like these carbs for higher horsepower street cars and even strip cars. They are often used on Pontiac engines because the appearance is pretty much the same as a Pontiac Quadrajet.

Pontiac, Olds, Buick, Cadillac Quadrajets with a few exceptings are straight fuel supply inlet and Chevrolet coded Quadrajets are right angled.
