tsk..tsk..tsk..no

nice car,  but shove the sales pitch !

I guess I should 'pump' the fact that I own a 1 of 1 -  64 Parisienne convertible 'factory ordered with' the buckets/console and rocker trim delete ......

yeah ..that sounds better.

When my brother worked for Auto Trader he would drive around Southern Ontario to photograph cars that were to appear in Auto trader. I remember him telling me about a particular car he photographed. It was a Diplomat Blue 1964 Parisienne convertible that originally was part of the Canadian Autorama that travelled to various cities across Canada. It was only a 283 but it did have all power accessories.

Regarding the red car on the Hemmings website, perhaps it was originally a 327 300-horse. That does make it a lot more scarce than the plentiful 283 cars. I do see a transmission dipstick up the rear of the engine so it is a Powerglide. There certainly are a lot of things that need to be corrected under the hood of that car if the seller is emphasizing the "rare Corvette drivetrain" blahblah.gif

Now if the car was a factory Muncie 4-speed with a 327-300 & 3.36 posi with factory tach... I wonder if those rams horn exhaust manifolds have the 2½" outlets?

It is amazing that these type of claims are made with cars being sold by "reputable" auctioneers. Remember the JFK Ambulance being sold last year at BJ. Everybody in the Professional Car Society knew it was crushed many years ago but BJ still advertised it as theJFK Ambulance. They admitted later to taking the sellers word no

They say 1 of 4 ever made. I say could be, but show me the GM Vintage documents to back up such a claim. That would be a rare one.

There's obviously some mistake here as in the auction site it states 283 and 1961 was the last year a 283 was offered in the corvette. The engine in the car doesn't even have the 1964 look with later valve covers etc.

Thanks

You're probably joking but my friend Jim ordered a 1968 Acadian Supersport 4 speed & 295 H.P. 350 and he somehow specefied no exterior chrome. The car was delivered with the rocker panel and perhaps some other trim inside the car. The Supersport emblems were on the front fenders though.

Memories

Thanks

The '66 hubcaps with the spinners were very rarely ordered in '64, as well as the Tijuana tuck 'n roll instead of the tri color.

I'd be willing to guess that the owner is "totally" ignorant on the facts of Cdn. Pontiacs!! Hasn't done any research, or documentaion, & someone likely told them "oh, it's chevy powered, must be special order, likely a Vette enginge"

Everybody has run across a lot of BS'rs in this hobby that seem to think their pretty ordinary or hacked up cars are worth $100,000.

I find you end up rolling your eyes a lot.  It doesn't pay to argue with them but they usually find out when they try to sell it (unless they find some idiot with too much money who will of course perpetuate the legend.)

Happens in Alberta a lot.

I know what you mean Ken. There's a guy in Alberta who has a GP. It's the oldest MK IV Pontiac in the Canadian Poncho registry and it's got a/c to boot. I tried as hard as I could to convince him it's worthless and he should sell it to me cheap but sadly, he's aware of it's actual value.....
