Well good for you Elroy. That car has too much potential to be hiding in your shop for that long. Will also enjoy following your progress.

I hear the pain about the cost Elroy.  When my 67 SD is done, I have a feeling I could have bought 3 or 4 finished cars.

The one thing that will not be included with a bought car is the family history that goes with the car.  My SD was my dad's and I still remember going to town on a Friday night for a cruise and it was the car that I learned how to bang gears in.  Those memories are priceless in my book.

66 is my favorite year for a chevelle. For whatever reason I like red on that car which is strange because it's not a colour I normally lean too. I prefer the beaumont in 67 but the chevelle in 66 I guess it just comes down to the trim? Or is it because I own a 67 beaumont? I look forward to watching your build.

oh mike don't be fooled, just a great reminder of all those ebay cars and what crap they could be. It is a very solid 40k mile car but a fairly crappy paintjob and a few regular issues like under the lower windshield gutter,(minor) rear window tray etc. We will have the quarters stripped this week and all the body panel alignment figured out before we pull the body. Crazy J, going turquoise probably same color as the camino, its a Buick color actually . I say probably as red is so tempting ....
Steve, the 66 has always been my favorite and the 67 Beaumont so we are tracking there.. my problem is I like them all, 65-6 beaumonts too, 70 SS454 and on and on ...

smileYour car is coming off the condition I put my 65 model intobiggrin Red is the colour to go!!! especially with the black trim. Die to have a 396 motor to connect to the Powerglide.  Take your time and deliver a super restoration. Wish you all the best, wish I was as young as you!!!

That's funny.  I was going red on mine but my wife leaned towards white with red interior and that is what we got.  It happened to be the original color too.  I think I could have been happy with 2 or 3 colors but haven't been dissappointed at all.

Paint it whatever the paint code says or any original color from 1966 Chevelle just don't paint it a new car color.
"Boy that new Buick color would sure look good on my 62 Impala" NO it looks good on a new Buick.
