Check your mailbox in about a week Ken. I am sending you one that is either good for parts, or maybe repairable. The glass lens is in 3 pieces but I put it in a ziploc bag and packed it with the light. Also, the wire is broken off the mercury switch as are most of them. I just bypass that and wire up a separate switch in the trunk to turn it on and off. Or you could put mercury switch on the trunk hinge from a new vehicle and run it that way. If nothing else, it may be good for parts if you find another incomplete one.

Carl

No biggy, more a parts light than anything but it will get you started if you get the car together and have nothing at that point.

Hey Carl, what diameter is the lense? Is it actually glass? What wattage of bulb do these lights take?

I'm asking, because I'm wondering if a plastic reverse light lense would work with out melting.

You wouldn't want to fool around soldering a wire on a mercury switch, I don't think.

I don't think there are any backup lenses that would fit on this, is there?

My biscayne has the same trunk light, extends all the way to the front of the car. Really kind of a weird accessory.

Really? I didn't know the Chevys used those. Does it have the spot stamped inside the trunk lid for mounting it like the Pontiacs do?

I figure I can trim down a jar lid!  it actually reminds of another lens I've seen on something but I can't think of what.  Too many swap meets i guess.

I can't load the pic right now, but depending on the diameter, a 60 poncho front park/signal lens might be close.

it sure looks like the 55 /56 backup light lens. They are repoded in plastic now and are on ebay. The glass  lenses are very brittle and crack easily and were in big demand for show cars. For everyday day use I would use the plastic lense and save the glass ones for high dollar show cars.

Carl, if the housings are still there try and get them off. The housings are the hardest part to find for the 55/56 backup lights.
