Steering wheel question

Hi everyone,

I have given up on trying to locate a stock Acadian steering wheel for my 66' Canso and have moved my focus onto the type of wheel I've attached an image of. After nailing down what I wanted I find out that most suppliers of this GM Classic wheel only produce wheel horn kits for 1967 & up, they claim that there is a diference on the 66' versus the 67'. These wheels were more commonly used on later 60's cars in a rosewood or light wood finish. I am interested in a black version like the image shows for my 66'. Any input appreciated as to where I can get one with the kit, etc...

Thanks

Tony

I will have to check. I think you can buy the wood wheel for a 67 and use it on a 66 hub but not positive. 66 and 67 columns have the same size shaft/spline so it fits. However, a 67 column is a larger diameter so the hub needs to be that same larger diameter to match cosmetically. I am likely confusing you more as I try to explain.

What I'm trying to say is, I'm pretty sure if you buy a hub for a 66 wood wheel and a wheel for a 67 you will have what you need and what fits properly. However, the horn cap is an issue as you won't find any Acadian cap to fit a wood wheel.

Thanks for this info, I'll dig into this as well. The cap wouldn't be a problem as I would just use the bowtie cap which is common for this type of wheel.

A stylish and comfortable wheel. Keep you hands on the rim and not the spokes...

The middle one is exactly what I'm after, is this for sale? Do you have a 66" hub as well?

Thans for the suggestion on the Grant option, I've considered it, but it's not quite what I'm after. So what I read from everyone and am going to inquire about is buy the wheel I want from someone like Classic Industries, etc.... & buy the hub kit for a 66 Chevelle and it should work?

Also if 66 SD would sell it.... how much?
Thanks for everything
Tony

also try to buy the 62-66 1pc  wheel  they changed to two piece in 67  and the wheel has a notch that fits into the 67and up wheel hub  afew years back I was doing the same as you (my car is also 66) and read that the 65 / 66 sport wheel hub is what is needed. I have my hub boxed up and have not fit it so cant say a 100% it will fit  but in a few days I will dig it out and try it and let you know

Yikes,
There are several wheel options like this for about $300 CDN. It's the hub question I have to work out. I'm not saying this isn't worth it but with the 63' Corvette stigma having over it, it drives the price through the roof in the seller's mind.
I know I'll have to pay a bit to do this, this one's out of reach.
Thanks though.

So I thought I'd update everyone to let you now that Modern performance Classics 1-714-639-7325 in Southern California who specialize in Nova's/Chevy 2's has this as a complete kit available, apparently the exact wheel in the image I posted originally with complete hub kit, etc... for $299.00 US. I've ordered it, when it's on the car I'll advise the quality. I have had pretty good success with them over the years. Don't expect any less on this one.
