Good luck with your sale   would it be worth over 80,000 after frame off restoration?

It is always tough to put values on restored cars...it is easy however to spend a lot of money on a restoration...

biggrin

Summer is moving along and this car is still available. We've had a lot of calls...but, nobody has come to see it. I will help with transportation if needed...have some additional parts available...give me a call!

You know,

It seems to me that these cars have been for sale for some time. It also seems to me for that kind of money, I'd rather buy a new Challenger Hellcat and have warranty and piece of mind as well as a 10 second car...maybe that's why they haven't sold? You hear every day at local car shows how guys have sold their classic muscle for new muscle to end the hassle of all the work tuning their old muscle for the "turn the key and go" fun of a new muscle car....

Life is all about choices...but, considering how much activity there is on this site and others like it, I don't think everyone has thrown the towel in yet on vintage muscle.

Thanks...wilma

Why does it say 454 on the fender?....An L78 is a 396

You can have at least two of these for the price of a Hellcat. For me the new cars don't have the soul or personality of the old iron, or the style. It'll always be the old stuff for me.

An L78 is a 375/396, the 454 badges must've made their way on sometime in the car's life.

Good luck with the sale Tom.

with U.S. have ten times the population   it should find a home somewhere there

Don't get me wrong,

I do prefer the older cars as well, but in this case I believe that although these are beautiful vehicles they are very expensive and difficult to finance whereas the new muscle cars are very easy to finance. They are also much easier to maintain and have a warranty. The point I'm trying to make is that these cars are not easily sold due to the price. We all agree that they are beautiful, but in the current economic market they are a difficult sell. If they were not, then they would have sold when they were posted here last time. I wish you luck, but suspect you will be holding on to them for a while longer....

You are correct...the car is a factory L78 with the "born with driveline". The original owner was a street racer and at some point early on he swapped in an "over the counter" LS6 454 engine...I guess he wanted to really be king of the street. When I bought the car the LS6 stayed with the seller and the factory motor came with the car.

Now, why did he put those 454 logos on the fenders?? my guess, he was bragging. Since the engines look identical, I would have left the 396 call outs and nobody would know...except when you hit the gas pedal!

The 454 numbers are just part of the history of the car...I have thought about taking them off and putting 396 call outs instead..but, then we wouldn't be having this discussionbiggrin
