1952 Chieftain Model 25-69D Survivor Pictures

Purchased new in Medicine Hat, Ab., transferred to grandson in 1970, spent time in Ottawa and trucked back to Alberta in '83.  From '83 to present 1,000 miles were put on the car.  More pictures to follow.  Battery is kicking out over 6 volts and was purchased in 1983.  Not bad for 29 years.

Just a comment here and feel free to disagree but I was told to never charge a battery with the caps removed, rather just loosened a touch maybe. Apparently the explosion risk is extremely high because of all the gases present with the caps removed.

Thanks, Carl. Can't be too careful where acid and gas are concerned. In spite of having been in Ontario for about a dozen years, there are only three rust holes/perforations; one on the driver's side rocker panel and two near the gas pedal in the floor. Tires are new, still got the 'tits' on them and were made by Shell! Didn't know there were Shell branded tires.

Ooooops!!  I read the posting instructions yesterday, too.  Anybody know how to rotate these shots?  They're supposed to be at the end of the post, too.  Damn.

I have an old Shell X-100 bias ply tire mounted on a turquoise painted 14x5 wheel from a 1965 Laurentian in storage. A neighbor gave it to me when he sold his Canadian-built 1965 Impala SS convertible and it had this in the trunk as a spare (his car was Sierra Tan with saddle interior, 283 Powerglide, standard steering & brakes).

Yes, survivors are cool.

Got really excited when I saw your car!!! I hoped it might have been the same car, I owned back in 1958-1960!  But not to be, as mine was a straight eight, with standard tranny!  Yeah thats me on the fender, at age 20!  Wow 54 years ago, but seems just like yesterday!!!!!!   Bob.

Bob, I m working as diligently as I can to get her started. Want to make sure that everything (oil, trans fluid, brakes, gas lines and front clip) are tickety-boo before I try starting her up, but when I do you've a standing invite to come take her for a drive. Great pic!!! Sure is a close resemblance. Where are you located? Shoot me a PM with your phone no., and I'd be grateful if we could chat.

Regards,

Rous

BTW, it's a 25-69D, S/N 2256901930, Engine W189678, Body 834, Trim 471 and Paint 264. Engine is a numbers match, High Compression for the Hydramatic. Can anyone advise paint equivalents for the '264' code? Or waht the colour was called? Tks. Rous
