Looks very over restored! And that's not meant in a negative way, I love seeing those cars done like that.

WOW!!! Nice RARE car!!! Still think "one power shift" & that shifter would be a 2 pc. shifter with 1 part still in your hand????? Yes that 'should bring "BIG BUCKS"!!! any reserve???? I couldn't afford it, unless I wanted to live in it & be single again

Is that one of the factory lightweights with the selected aluminum components & fenders? Cowl plenum intake! I love it! Considering the inherent weakness of the rear ends it makes me wonder how they kept them together during their drag racing careers. Those Z-11 engines were rare in their own right with unique intakes & heads. I thought those things actually displaced 427 c.i.d. That is one of those cars that will always bring in big bucks.

Indeed, Junior Johnson won 7 races and captured 10 pole positions in the 1963 #3 Z11 427 powered
Chevrolet Impala.

You're correct, the Z-11s had a 409 bore, 4.31", with a unique 3.65" stroke to arrive at 427 cubic inches. The same dimensions as the original 1963 427  Mystery engines, or Mark II.

different engines ray, the Z11 was based on the 348/409 W block

the nascar engine was a new engine, MARK II based on the current big block

I owned a Mystery Motor intake for many years. Bought by accident at a swap meet thinking it was a Mark IV intake. I finally sold it to my friend in Nebraska for him to hang on his wall. He's big on 409's. It was good bragging rights but the money I got for it went to good use, although some days I wish I still had it.

Very nice car. I'll be interested to see what it sells for. I remember a few years ago there was a maroon one acrooss the block at Barrett Jackson (earlier when they had reserves) that bid to $105K but didn't sell. Even then it seemed like a bargain to me at that price.

This particular Z-11 was sold through new at Clippinger Chevrolet in Covina California. It sat on the lot for awhile and eventually sold to a Ron Campbell who resided in Las Vegas and sponsored by Oscar Gregory Chevrolet. The car never ran that great compared to the other well known Z-11 Chevy's (Hayden Proffit,Nicholson,Sox & Martin, Dave Strickler etc).
