My '67 Town and Country winter beater

Chrysler.JPGIm not too sure if I'm allowed to post Chryslers on this website! I found this car in Kelowna last year after sitting in a garages for many decades. After putting a fair bit of money into mainly rubber type bits (tires, hoses, calipers/brake hoses, etc...) the car has been a flawless fall/spring cruiser. The late owner had it since new, bought in California and drove up to Kelowna where he moved in '76. His wife said they never really drove it after that-they bought a pinto for the gas mileage! The 9 pass. interior is flawless, and she was quite mortified when I told her it ws to become my daily driver. This spring I just turned 60000 miles, and hope to rack up lots more this fall once the pontiac is put to bed for the year.

Just put a 396 in it and it'll all be fine!

Seriously, not bad for a non-Canadian Poncho.

Wow!  Talk about different perspectives!  If that were mine it would be my pampered summer cruiser... way too nice for a winter beater here in the east.  A couple of winters would have that looking like a piece of junk.

You must have an amazing summer car to be driving that in the winter, but I guess in BC your winters aren't that harsh anyways, just a lot of rain?

By the way, Mopar wagons are fairly popular these days, so you might be able to sell it for good money before it deteriorates and buy yourself a nice winter beater with modern creature comforts for the money.

Either way, nice car and I too would like to see more pics!

Good for you Marky. If you undercoat and oil spray it well, choose your days you will have fun this winter. I am not putting my 64 away I will just pick the good days just make sure you heater works.

I suppose I should've qualified "winter"-haha. We dont salt here, she still gets a heated shop, and it doesnt see much road in January or February, nor when its snowing/storming. Theres always the boring modern car to drive... The car is maintained very well, much better than the decades it sat under wraps. My only fear is being hit, with everything being original and all, but the car is of no use to me just sitting. Its so nice to be able to load up the whole family in December for a drive from Vernon to Kelowna along the lakes and not have to wish it was summer so we could be in the old car- the roofrack handled the Christmas tree just fine to boot!
I'll try and get some interior shots today before work.

I suspected that was the case.  Being in eastern rustland, I get jittery when I hear the words "winter beater" because it brings about visions such as this:

Uh oh... there goes my heart rate again.... biggrin

Chrysler interior.JPGChryslerinterior.JPGYikes, I think that ones a wee bit beyond repair. Anyway, heres a few interior shots- note the cig lighter on the backside of the front seat. It for sure put an end to that constant hassle of passing back the lighter for the kids and their friends.

And yes it is a factory headrest on the passenger side only. The previous owner told me her husband ordered it that way.

Wow... that's in beautiful shape!  Bet it sure is nice and smooth on the highway!

Laughing about the cigarette lighters - I had a '71 Chrysler New Yorker that had 5 ashtrays with cigarette lighters: 2 on the dash, 1 on each rear door armrest and 1 on the back of the front seat.  Chrysler didn't want anybody to have to miss out on smoking back in the day.  Just picturing the car driving down the road with all the ashtrays in use gives me visions of Cheech and Chong...

Different times, for sure!  biggrin

Do you think my reserve is reasonable? I love the car a lot, but when it comes right down to it, I'm a GM guy, I just couldnt pass up owning such a beauty for a few years. I'm really not out to make anything on the car (I'll actually lose at the reserve price), just want to get what I think its worth.

Its very reasonable If you can find someone to appreciate it  (as in a Mopar fan)   The market is off all over   To many baby boomers with garages full
