Your car had some pretty groovy stuff on it from the factory: 396, F41, Disc Brakes, AM / 8-track with rear fender antenna (AM music stations were readily available back then and they played Top 40). I dont see P01 Wheel Covers on the list, leading to the question: Did they not appear because P01 Wheel Covers were already included on a 2+2, or did the presence of disc brakes automatically include Rally Wheels as they did in 1967? For 1968 the presence of disc brakes no longer included Rally Wheels on U.S. cars, but I have seen an interesting tidbit on GM Canada Parts Lists showing the carryover of some disc brake wheels early into production. Did that mean Rally Wheels continued to be included on disc brake cars in Canada for 1968? The Big Pontiacs gained 6" wide wheels for 1968 as standard to try to emulate the Wide Track persona, presumably.

 Cam, how about this RCMP car with discs... Ralley wheels? I doubt it?

The 4 piston brakes I stripped off a 68 Parisienne 4 dr ht for my automatic 66 GP had black painted 15" rally wheels under full wheel covers. This was in about 1977 or so. I am guessing that was all original stuff.

And no, it was NOT a big block car that I parted out....!

Restoring a Vehicle For Selling Purposes

If you are selling, we can provide proof positive identification for your vintage car or truck, including special options that will make your car or truck more valuable.

Our vintage vehicle package provides the option content of your vehicle. Information includes:

  • original paint colour and interior trim colour
  • production/shipping dates
  • quantity of same model produced for sale in Canada
  • original engine number through late 1960's (if available)
  • original selling Dealer and location (if available)

 

This information is combined with Engineering Specifications for your specific year and vehicle line to provide a comprehensive package of production information for each car or truck.

Option details are available from 1964 to the present for most vehicle lines. Available information from 1946 to 1964 is limited to:

yup,you guys certainly called it. Now I think I actually have something worth keeping. I will put a big block in her someday. I know where there's a 396 block. Its just a driver for now. The 327/350 is still running strong, needs a carb rebuild.I am at a point where I can't throw alot of money at her. If I can get healthy enough to go back to work then I can start rollin some cash into it. I am just going to piece together a nice engine from scratch, so if anyone out there has a 396 for a reasonable price (for a poor man that is, lol)........She needs body work, big time.

I don't have the original 8 track. Anyone have a photo of the original style mounted in a car?

Just google "GM Vintage vehicle services" . They were fantastic!

Think I'll call Brichwood G/Pontiac and see if they can release any infor from when they ordered it and sold it originally.......if they still have those documents?!
