That's quite a piece of history on so many levels.
Cars, hockey, families, business, patriotism, optimism.

A lot of things have changed in 50 years.

You'd think Dad would know which side of the car the gas cap was on! I guess when someone else always fills it for you, you might never figure it out!!

Todd, this made my night. Took me right back to my childhood and you know Imperial Oil sponsored Hockey Night in Canada. I can't get the smile off my face. I started playing organized hockey in 1962. Dad had the 61 Strato Chief then a 65 Laurentian, that's what got me to our games and he always gassed up at the Esso on the corner a few blocks fiorm home...Wow. I got my son and showed him, he was a goalie and we'd pack up the Suburban like that and pick up a few boys on the way to the games too. True Canadiana. What pride we had. Thanks for posting.

Thanks again Todd, That was swell! The flagship station shown at the end was clos eby where I grew up. It was Don Mills Road and Wynford Drive, The station is still Esso but of course it is a 2012 style. I had a card board replica of that station that we got at the gas station on another promotion.

My older brother and I had that game, it was swell (we wore it out). We got a newer one in the early 70's with an automatic face-off puck drop and goal lights.smile

I still have a 60's game (Montreal VS Toronto of coarse!) in real good shape. Found it out at the curb in Toronto in the early 80s.

A friend of mine had a cool NHL hockey game set where the "puck" was a ball bearing surrounded by a plastic ring. You could do great slap shots with it!

Wow memories ,saturday night hockey night in canada, family night. The first commercial really was the way it was in small town Quebec, snow banks ,playing hockey on outdoor rinks and before and after games playing road hockey with our equipement on . The good old days
