That one must have been imported after the fact because they werent sold in Canada when new.

The Cosworth Vega was to have appeared in 1974 in its own exclusive colour, Cosworth Silver, but a burnt valve during the 50,000 mile emissions certification process caused the car to fail the test. Supposedly the car needed a valve adjustment as part of the usual maintenance, but GM was not allowed to touch it. Back to the drawing board. Chevrolet submitted another car with revised engine tuning and the car passed, but only in time to be sold for 1975. For 1976 they added a 5-speed manual to the option list.

They were rare, even more so after a barn collapsed in 2007, destroying 3 nice examples.

The thing i find really interesting about this photo, is that they are smiling. What the !@#$. I would be crying for weeks if i lost those three sweet Vega Cosworths. I never had a Cosworth but i did have a 1974 Vega hatchback with the high output engine and four speed manual. I owned that car from 1977 to 1979. I loved that car and it never let me down. Lots of power and great handling but she loved oil. My Vega had 53,000 miles on it when i sold it to a guy that pro streeted the car. I put a quart a week of oil in her but i still loved that car. Now they are so rare that you hardly ever see them, even at car shows. I wish i had my 74 Vega, that car was a real joy to drive. Any one that knocks Vega's never owned one. Other than the oil burning problem mine was a sweet heart. Many had rust trouble but so did every other car on the road. I sold my Vega with no rust at all and the guy that bought her did a great job pro streeting her with tubs and an all out 350 small block. Cheers. George.
