Big Al's collection of 69's - alot of work ahead of me

Hi.  Just joined asking about Steve's 70 2+2.  I'm now in Cobourg and saw he was also here.  Was asked to post a couple pictures.  Just have a couple with me - not the greatest but can post better ones at a later date.  Quick background.  I've got 3 69 convertibles - a 2+2 and 2 Parisiennes.  Also had a Grande Parisienne hardtop I cut up for parts.  My brother has a 69 Laurentian hardtop that he added Parisienne badging to.  Might take a few posts to get me pictures up.  Have 2 daughters and plan to give them each one of the cars after university or as a wedding gift - one will remain with me.  One is torn down right now - one is roadworthy and the most recent addition is likely the best of the bunch (from BC) but I have never put it on the road.

Cheers

Al

A few more pictures of the fleet - plus (sorry) a 914 that I did 10 years ago - my Dad's and the car in which I learned to drive.

Nice car!

If you want to enlarge the pics like I did this one for you, when you are entering go down to where it says "insert" and use that. Your pic will show up large size then.

Welcome,

Nice cars...I've seen that picture of the red 2+2 with the stuff underneath before.

I still have a soft spot for the 69's. Post away!

Ya - I posted it a few years back when I first found this site. Got the other cars in the meantime. Leaky tranny seal when it sits. Replaced it but unless driven regularly it will leak. All two speed powerglide cars with 350 two bbl originally - one has a replacement engine from 1974 but I have an extra 69 350 out of a Stratochief to go into that car. Planning to replace those the trannys in time as I redo each car. The maroon one is completely stripped down now - it needs the most work although it didn't look bad in the picture. Lots of fill however.

Thanks Steve - I'm not that great but nice to hear kind words - great to meet with your group and will see you around as time permits. FYI - further to our brief discussion - removed the drivetrain from the 74 914 LE we are working on at the shop - broken trailing arm and major structural rust repair under the famous 914 "hell hole" beneath the battery tray in this mid engined car (yes battery acid is a problem with these cars). Likely Pontiac lovers may not be interested but I will be taking pictures as we proceed. Talk to you later.

Al

Note - should make a meeting at Tafts to strip out the 12 bolt, rear bumper and windshield from the 69 there plus anything of use from the 70 you say you also saw there.

well i've been schooled. didn't know there was 2 types of 10 bolts i've always thought if it had that eye brow it was a 12 bolt. so i ran out to my shop because maybe i have a 10 bolt. i counted 12, i'm happy.

Well - no need for the rear end for me - I have a spare from my parts car and plan to put it in the 2+2 as the one in it currently is not original and seems to be offset slightly (an inch or so - car doesn't look bent and rides straight down the road) so who know where it came from. I do want the windshield and the rear bumper appeared straight on the Taft car - was very surprised to see it there a couple weeks ago. A couple of my rear bumpers have small dings in them. Tafts charges so little for individual parts that its worth the effort. I had a great aftermarket windsheild in my parts car but like an idiot I cracked it trying to remove it. My timing is flexible. Off to Belleville tonight - April Wine is playing at the theater!
