June 2013 Feature Car

Absolutely stunning! The engine bay is such a cool blend era correct visual blended with new.  Love the interior (and the fact that its a standard), and the cooler is indeed coooooooool!

And nice to see a Custom remain a Custom as opposed to an SD clone.

Great job on the car, and great choice for the honor!

When Larry Schafer sent me photos of his 1966 Beaumont Custom my first thought was "Why haven't I seen this car on Canadian Poncho before?" Larry did a fantastic job painting the Beaumont this stunning shade of blue. The tires and wheels are icing on the cake.

Larry tells us more:

"I bought this car in Aug. 2011 after looking at over 50 cars over the span of more than a year.  When I finally found this car I knew it was "the one" as I had previously owned a 67 Beaumont Sport Deluxe, that I sold in the mid-90s and always regretted letting go of.

The car had an at-home frame-off restoration by the previous owner in 2004. Most of was still in very good condition, however it had been painted in his garage and the quality wasn't great.  In January 2012 I took the car apart, sanded it, and then repainted it.

Everything that went back on the car was either rechromed, polished, replaced or repainted.  I've done some detailing to the engine compartment and the interior.  Recently I have changed the wheels and tires.

The car was originally purchased in Trail, BC as a 283 Powerglide however it now has a 383 Stroker with Camelhump heads detailed to look like an original 327.  It has an original 283 air cleaner customized to a dual snorkel backed by a Muncie M20 and a 3:36 Posi.

My wife and I really enjoy this car and look forward to many more years with the Beaumont.

Thanks for your consideration,
Larry Schafer"

I REALLY like this one. It reminds me of a Spectraflame painted Hotwheels car you'd pull out of one of those tire-shaped carrying cases!

Sweet ride.  I'm partial to the blue colour.

Does the licence plate say "Collector"?    What Province/State?
