You still see this stuff around Calgary - 63 Parisienne

I was over at a strip mall in SW Calgary early this evening, and came across this gem in the parking lot.    1963 Parisienne 4 door sedan, V8 Auto.   Just as I snapped a couple photo's the driver came around corner.  He said it's a buddy's car, and that it was a 283.   I wonder how many of these cars GM Canada sold.

I lived on a farm by High River AB as a youth, and fondly remember one of the neighbors teenage boys cruising back and forth in front of the high school at lunch in his mom's 63 Parisienne 4 dr sedan (you know, windows down, arm out the window, smoke in hand, etc).   Unfortunatly some time later he was involved in a head-on collision with 2 other fellows in the front seat with him.   He hit the steering wheel hard, and the other 2 had their heads go through the windshield.  Fortunately they all survived.  For years the photo of that car (with the 2 head holes in the windshield) was used in seat belt films here in Alberta schools.

About 2 years ago a black 63 Parisienne convertible was parked outside the local Home Hdwe here in Wasaga Beach. I was admiring the car as an all original showing wear when an older gentleman ( I'm 65 ) showed up. Introduced himself as the original and only owner the car has ever had.
Saw it about a week later and haven't seen it since.
Yes, they're still out there.

Seems that the hardtops & convert's have become MORE common place than the sedans (2dr. & 4dr.) that originally outsold them 15 to 1....

That makes sense. More people want to hang on to a convertible. A lot more fun!

Do you know what the sales figures were for 1963 Parisiennes? 2 door, 4 door and convertibles?

I don't have far to go to see one. It's in the garage. :)
