71 Lemans $8000 kijiji NB

As is usually the case, this car looks much better in pictures than in person.

Are those valve cover bolt locations specific to newer crate motors?  I've never noticed that before...

This guy has had this car up for a while now. He has been wanting to sell it urgently from the get-go.

Red steering column doesn't look to be original...or is it?

Pretty sure it should be black to match the interior.  Also the flat door panels don't look right - they should have some kind of pattern in them.

The painted bumpers kind of kill it for me, but I imagine he has some money into the car - the crate motor can't be too cheap.

Probably painted the bumpers because chrome work is pricy. That's why I did mine body color, the rear is re popped and is relatively cheap. Steering column is likely to accent the red kinda like the red console on the floor!

I kinda like the body colour front bumper on this design.  You can sure see that a lot of money has been spent on this car.

Can never understand sellers like this....."want sold"..."need gone"..."lost storage"...."too many projects"..."want my yard back"....and at the same time,

.....they say....."will  look at interesting trades."

I come away from this kind of seller  with ......there's something wrong with the car not being told.

Looks much better on your car with the darker colour, plus you broke it up with the stripe.

On the red car, I think the front looks alright, but the big rear bumper combined with taillights makes for too much of an expanse of red out back for my tastes.

What would turn me off about this car is the exact reason you painted your bumpers - the cost of chroming these ones would have to be figured into the purchase price.

It's just me - I spend a lot of my time around new cars with their monochromatic look and one of the things that I like about old cars is the chrome - just a personal preference.

Thanks for the compliment :) I was really unsure when I committed to painting them but it turned out better than I thought!
It is a lot of red on that car and I think if certain points were painted black or trim it might look a lot different. My tail lights I bought have a silver strip around them so it separates from the bumper. I will see if I can find a pic

I know the "kid" that owns it. He likes to trade up, buy's and sells em like mad. Usually fixes them up a little, drives em for three or four months and then sells em. He's having a hard time selling this one, unfortunately she's got some bondo in dem der quarters. $900 paint job and a skull shifter to boot.

well its not a ton of money - I agree with Ray-the front painted bumper seems to work-usually I'm not a fan but this sort of fakes the Endura look

Bingo!  The contrasting colours of the taillights with the silver trim and the Pontiac emblem server to break it up and I think it looks quite good on your car, especially how you've accentuated it with the exhaust tips (are the Chevelle tips?) with the valence cutouts. The details really help to make the look, in my opinion.

I have to say, in comparing the photos of your vehicle and the one for sale, it's quite obvious that yours was done to a much higher standard.

Yes Chevelle tips, didn't want the splitters. It all came together real well and my paint/body guy did an amazing job on the car. Especially considering its a driver :)

This guy keeps relisting this car every few days with no price (please contact)  no If he wants $8000.00, he should list it as such. Now he says "make an offer".

In all fairness, he does say "Was asking $10 reduced to $8" further down in the ad, but it's been that way for a long time and is somewhat irrelevant IMHO.  Was asking $10,000... when?  Why not just say... Was asking $50,000?  Does that mean it's worth it?

Anyways, not trying to critique his ad too much, but it's one of those kijiji/craigslist sales-game peeves that I have.  Just be straight up and we'll all be better off.

Now, if one were to take it literally, they could show up at his door with a fiver, a toonie and a loonie... biggrin
