71 Charger RT PEI

Not many of these left, especially out here. Car looks solid -could that be original paint?

Mopars can look not bad on the topside. But on the bottom can be a different question;  base of cowl, trunk floors even on southern cars, rear frame rails, etc. To me this car looks pretty rough. How long has it sat on the grass  ?? Does it still have its air induction toys ?? To restore, lets start at $50,000.00. It is a low production car though. 300 might be a closer #. 3000 is way high.?? Just checked the registry looks like 23 in Hemi Orange, and 15  of those were automatic 440 barrel cars. Only  1 pink 440 / auto. 12 Hemi cars came to Canada

I suspect the car is not originally from the island. It would have turned to dust in about 1973.

I had a Yellow/Black 71 R/T 440 Six Pack 4 speed car when I was 18. A friends Uncle bought it new. It had the air grabber hood on it. Was suppose to be a 1 of 125 car, but never checked into it.

Traded it for a 68 SD Beaumont which I heard was in BC but that was a long time ago. The Beaumont was a turquoise with white interior car.

Buy it, trailer it to Alberta and triple your money selling it with no additional repairs. People are gaga over Mopars out here.

I had one just out of high school with a 383 in it.Loved that car, drove it for many years and a few engine swaps later sold it to a guy who took it back to quebec.I have always had an eye out for another one but the prices have gotten stupid. This one looks not too bad but hard to tell until you crawl underneath. And of course it all the way across the country.Sure the 440's hard on gas,who cares.you don't buy a car like this for gas mileage. When I had mine gas was 39.9 a liter and my dad thought that was outrageous,oh if we had only known, lol

That car looks to be very rough to me.  I suspect it would turn into a bottomless money pit in no time flat.

Just looked at a '70 Challenger that a buddy brought back from southern California and it still needed a trunk floor, dutchman panel, some rocker panel work around the front fenders, had some pinholes in the floor, etc.

This rust would have just been from water leaking into the trunk, leaves gathering at the bottom of the fenders, etc., but translate that to a Canadian car with some salt exposure sitting outside in a damp environment like PEI and it can cause a world of hurt!

Western guys, if you are thinking of buying this car, have a trusted person go over it carefully before you commit.

Oh yes for sure Todd. Too bad the cost of the resto will be way more than its value. The market for Mopars is fairly steady after a decline, but no where near the 06-07 bubble. This model of Charger are not that dear to buy already done.

not worth the money to restore? Are you kidding me,these cars are going for 10-15 thousand in alberta and that's for a clapped out 318 version.Theres a 71 hemi version on kijiji for 100,000.This one is an original 440 r/t car worth an east 50-60 grand out west when done. All the sheetmetal is available in the aftermarket now.If its anything like mine it will need quarters as that seemed to be the first place they rot.Heck a good r/t hood can fetch 1000 alone. It would be long gone by now if t was out west.

Good luck with it.  I'll tell you right now that it needs a trunk lid, trunk floor, dutchman's panel, and bumpers.  That's just from looking at the pic of the rear of the vehicle.  Highly likely that it needs floor pans, rear frame rails, torsion bar crossmember, possibly inner fenders, some cowl work, rocker panels, maybe a roof skin, and of course quarters and fenders... etc.  Then there's all the mechanical and suspension, etc. work that it will need.  ...and paint of course.

Conspicuously missing are pics of the trunk and engine compartment, which are easy pics to take.  Also are the typical descriptors "solid" or "rust free" - usually cars described that way are not, ones that are missing that language are often rotten.

That said, a nicely restored version would likely be worth $30-$40K (50-60 would probably get you a sixpack 4-speed car), though this one didn't come with some of the "cool" equipment that would make it worth more, like hideaway headlights, Ramcharger hood, 4-speed.  Also, it's not coded for elastomeric bumpers, so I'm guessing that these bumpers were painted because they were rusty.

You never know 'till you go look at it, though, so I'd be happy if somebody would prove me wrong.  wink

oh it definitely needs a rear bumper you can see the hole rotted right through it,trunk lid lower lip looks pretty sketchy, dash pad is toast. It needs lots of work but it would still sell in the 10,000 range as is out here in alberta. To buy it,fix it, and flip it may not be profitable but if I was buying it it would be a keeper and then who cares if you put 40,000 in it.It was one of the best cars I've ever owned,i even drove it in the winter with the 440 in it.Definitley a project of love for somebody, wish it was closer.I just love how they say e mails not replied to.Well your on a rock in the far east of Canada, you just alienated about 9/10th of your intersested buyers. It would be nice to get some pics of the trunk and engine.

ACTUALLY IT SAYS "E-MAIL OFFERS WILL NOT BE REPLIED TO". NOT THAT IT MATTERS, AD SAYS IT'S SOLD.

Agreed on all points.  However I just had a near-purchase experience of a west coast Mopar this past weekend that opened my eyes to how badly they rust even when they are from less corrosion-influenced areas.  40-some years can have a bad effect on those old unitized bodies.  Absolutely this can be fixed and should be by somebody who cares about it.  I was just trying to say that before I plunked down the $$$ from afar thinking I was going to profit from it after spending $2K to ship, I'd want to take a good closeup in person look at it as they can be really really rusty while looking "ok".

Sounds like somebody looked at it and it wasn't too bad.  Great!

If you think Mopars from that era are bad, you oughta see the late 50's Mopars. Major rust issues. As some folks know I'm a huge fan of these cars. You pretty much need to find one from the desert as there are next to no reproduction parts for that era of Mopar.

Is that the place I saw there with the "Daytona" Fury out front?

Quite possibly Carl ... outside of Charlottetown on the main (only biggrin) highway? Just last week he had a half dozen classic Mopars parked out front.

I believe that, Todd!  I've been scanning the California ads off and on and am surprised to read that they need trunk pans, floor pans, rockers...  Always wanted an Exnermobile, but think I'll stick with the newer stuff...

I believe that one was "created" by a guy in NS, but maybe it was sold to PEI?

I kicked myself for not buying that car before he ruined it as it looked like it was in decent shape, and it was selling cheap.  D'oh!
