The OPP used these beasts here in Ontario. One rumbled up to our cottage back in 73 near Parry Sound, the officer was looking for a family to convey some bad news, fortunately not us. As he spoke to my Dad my buddy and I were checking out the car, I pointed to the fender flash that read 4 5 4 to my friend, the officer noticed this and smiled and said, "you'd have a hard time getting away from me".

Car is in storage, plan on going up to farm on Saturday to take photos. It is a BC car from

Surrey area, very dry car, paint is toast, minor rust. Was unit # 8 freeway patrol, as per

factory warranty card, had George do the documentation. Neat old cop car........

I was just looking at the picture of that car and thinking how cool it was, and how I used to think of them as fast when they were on the road. That was exactly the time when I was getting my license and although they seemed so fast to me then, I think about how slow that car actually is compared to the LT1 Caprices the highway patrol used 20 years later. Those newer 9C1 Caprices were at least a full second quicker in the quarter mile. The LT1's sure would have kept up on the top end as well and the handling on the 9C1 90's cars would be FAR superior to this car.

But...............

There's just something cool about the old ones, in spite of being smog equipment laden, bulky old cars with shapeless seats!
