This is a 1967 General Motors engine. It has been in storage since 1985. The condition of the motor is unknown. It is complete except for the exhaust manifolds. It could be used for rebuilding for a classic car or as a core. May consider reasonable offer, no trades please.

It's amazing how it seems tougher and tougher to find a 283. Every so often it seems like a few surface, almost a glut, and then nothing again for a long time.

When I looked for one about 5 years ago it took quite a bit of hunting and then suddenly I found a beautiful compete runner that absolutely purred.

Weak moment, and for that 67 Nova SS I had, I needed an engine just to be able to move the car around. Big blocks don't fit unless you do some serious work, and I had NO plans to ever cut that car up.

Unlike the guy who bought it to hack it up and put a 427 in it disbelief

got 20 thow on it ,,started to knock hard to hear ,but I think its a wrist pin,, run great when I took it out,lots of spare parts with it

1964 Chevrolet 283 rebuilt to 301with a mild cam. New crank. New pistons. New cam.  Less intake and carburetor and distributor. It needs an oil pan. 30 thousand miles running time.  Compression is 9-1.   Pistons are flat tops. The bore is 60 over. Engine stand is included. St.Catharines 905-6881367

As far as 283's go, they are just plain rare around here even when I'm NOT looking for one it seems!

We have a 67 steel crank 327 out of a farm truck   will go to scrap in spring  and a 3970010 un-bored block    

even 350's are getting scarce around here  

with the scrappers loading up every ounce of weight....
