DESCRIPTION

ESTIMATE: $90,000 - $120,000

One of only 326 equipped with both the Ram Air IV engine and Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission, this 1970 Pontiac GTO hardtop shows just 10 miles after a fully documented no-expense-spared nut-and-bolt frame-off restoration. The current owner purchased it in 2007 from the same small town in Indiana where it was sold new in 1970. It was restored by well-known Pontiac specialist and GTO Association of America Judge Darrell Davidson of Supercar Creations, who completed it in 2013. The body was completely stripped and fit and finish brought to better than new before receiving correct Pepper Green BASF Glasurit base-coat/clear-coat paint. The frame was also stripped and the chassis components were replaced and refinished in the correct original factory finishes. The Ram Air IV engine was rebuilt to Pure Stock drag specs by the nations top Pontiac engine builder and the M21 rebuilt with M22 internals; a 4.33:1 rear end completes the drivetrain. Restoring the interior included installing new wiring and refreshing all instrumentation to factory original specs. All NOS, original and OEM parts, with correct numbers and dates, were used in the restoration. Every detail is correct, right down to the T-3 headlamps, the NL stamped Ram Air IV specific valve cover bolts and the "tennis ball" shift knob atop the Hurst shifter. It has scored numerous prestigious awards including Best Concours Restored at the 2013 GTO Association of America Nationals, winning out over more than 90 Concours restored GTOs. It was also invited to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in 2013, where it scored an amazing 997 of 1,000 points. Documentation includes a detailed photo album of the restoration, PHS paperwork and copies of all awards.

The car is owned, by one, of a group of "high dollar, numbers matching" nice owners, who seem to have unlimited funds lol

And 98% of the cars are never driven, and certainly never raced (in their defence, its a bitch to clean these cars after they are run any distance)

Fellas -

Anyone going to Indy in May? I'll be there with my 70 RAIV GTO. It's a bare bones born to race beast -- RAIV, M21, 4.33, manual drums, manual steering, bench seat, no radio, steelies with dog dishes. Judged at MCACN 997/1000. Best concours restored at GTOAA Nationals in 2013. 10 miles on no-expense spared restoration. Engine has had a Pure Stock drags build done and the M21 has been updated with M22 guts, so you can race it, too.

Mecum is valuing the car at $90k-$120k. Pictures and details here.

There is also a beautiful and rare ( Green ) Ram Air II 1968 Firebird Lot 184 going across block on Saturday May 17 at Indy.

Shows value range as $150-200,000 USD............ Eric Dahlquist was working for Hot Rod Magazine in the 60's
and said the 68 Firebird Ram AirII was perfectly balanced and of all the cars he tested back in the day, this was
the best all around car he ever drove........... the worst was the 427 Cobra, he said it was hot and almost undriveable
as a street car.

The DARK green "seems" to be more acceptable than other shades

GM in the sixties got a deal on green paint 46 million gallons for $800.00 delivered

Thats why every 60's car "left " is green most were hidden away (probably from embarrassment)
