1974 Pontiac GTO - numbers matching big block, 4-speed hatchback with 87000 original miles.  It is admiralty blue with white interior.  There are 42 options listed on the build sheet but I believe U17 ( 4 gauges behind the shifter) is rare.  There were only 625 4-speed hatchbacks built.  This was the last year for GTO (1964 to 1974) and apparently was 2/10ths of a second faster than the 1964 389 tri-power.

Maybe rare, maybe end of the line for the model, but I can never see that car getting $35,000.

Doesn't matter how you slice it, the '74 Ventura based car will never have the appeal of a '64 - '69 GTO.

Nice car, but the market will not support that kind of pricing IMHO.

Ah, I thought those were small block cars, like 350's, no "big block" unless we're getting into the 350 big block/455 big block thing again ?

A lot of Canadians wrongly make the distinction between Chevrolet 350 and Pontiac 350 as big block.

That's a lot of coin for a car that they don't even allow into the GTO clubs and meets.

Although Pontiac dealers managed to sell 7,058 of the newly minted GTOs, technically coded as WW3 within the Ventura line, the revamped model quickly became a sore spot for loyalists, a situation not helped when Motor Trend tested the "Hot Sports Compacts" in their February 1974 issue--the staff could only muster a 0-60 time of 9.5 seconds and a quarter-mile trap time of 16.5 seconds (at a leisurely 84.03 MPH).

Thus, the validity of the '74 GTO came into question before long: Was it really a GTO muscle car, or just a graphics-laden wanna-be? However the model was perceived initially, perhaps its most significant feature had yet to be established: It would be the model that put the nail in the coffin of the last of the original GTO line.  Hemmings

I could think of spending that kinda money on something worth that. I don't doubt it's a real nice car for maybe $18-$20k-Maybe.My 2 cents guys.....For an extra $4k I could get a low mileage-33k miles-'70 'Stingray Ragtop (originally a LS5 M21 car)with second day add ons-'70 LS7 with all correct L88 top end along with hood and proper air cleaner and a GM M22 4 speed that was installed back in the day. That car would scare you all day long.........That's what I would buy!!

I have never been a fan of the Nova body style, but Pontiac added some style to it. Very nice rare optioned car that you could make go faster. If someone has always wanted one and has the coin to spend, it will sell.

I actually had a large poster of one in red, a large version of the brochure picture on my wall, I would have been in Grade 11 or so. The car looked pretty nice but it was really cheap, afterall it was a low line compact car. Naming it GTO was probably a huge mistake. After the 1973 GTO sales debacle Pontiac should have let well enough alone.

The 74 GTO was basically the Formula X, that or perhaps Ventura Formula 350 would have been a better name.

As far as i am concerned, that will never be a GTO. It will only be a GTO to people that actually own them and that is about it. I can think of countless cars i would rather pay $35.000 for, over that " DECAL GTO " car. There is no doubt that this a clean example of that car but it has very little appeal to most of us car nuts. Just my opinion. Cheers. George.
